  1. Instead of starting numerous general threads with basic questions regarding videos from your ytube channel, perhaps consider a dedicated archive thread in the Video forum.

  2. Yesterday Left Colville to Ione, past Sullivan lake up over Pass creek pass, Hughes meadows in Idaho (44 degrees/rain) down to Priest river, Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry and crashed last night on a FS road called Cougar ridge above Yaak river. Today Drove to Yaak, then over to Koocanusa lake, Libby Dam, Kootenai river into Libby. Currently eating ice cream. Gonna go back to Troy, go down the Bull River to Clark Fork river and then on to Lolo hot springs to go soak. More pictures to come. Its very possible to go from NE Washington to NW Montana by FS dirt roads. But past Nordman, Idaho to Bonners Ferry Idaho I dont know the way. The rivers are all swollen, it looks like spring. The massive cedars in Wa/Id line were a treat. IMG_3238.MOV

  3. One edge of that sword is far sharper than the other. Technology is what has brought a measure of legitimacy to this field. Taken it beyond campfire stories and legends. The PGF. The Brown footage. Our own burgeoning e-DNA efforts. The audio files and photos many of our members have shared. It doesn't take much technology to hoax if someone is so inclined. A couple of pieces of wood, a sharp knife, and a couple of leather straps and you're the next Ray Wallace. Technology has brought far more benefit than determinant to this field.

  4. Sounds good JKH. Thanks. I'll try to set that up. Been years since I've been on the forum and I'm trying to navigate through it all again.

  5. I took a small piece of exposed film leader from a strip of negatives and cut a circle, took off the rubber eyepiece and stuck it in behind the rubber for the same reason. Works great and does save my night vision since there is no way to dim the internal display like you can with the FLIR TK.

  7. FINALLY received these. They were on a slow boat from China. I was getting kind of worried, I thought maybe they caught the corona and were in some hospital somewhere. Anyway, I took them out in the back yard, and could easily see treetops in the park which are over hundred yards away, as well as being able to see everything clearly closer in than that. No humanly visible light emitted save for the viewing display, which is quite bright. I may cut a piece of red gel to soften that light a bit and save my eyes' natural night vision. But they seemed to record and zoom in and out well, considering the price. I Still need to take them out to the field, though, for better and more in depth testing. Sorry to pollute the knife thread with this. A good 4th of July weekend to all.

  8. 's ok. The behavior really does seem to vary regionally. I would say the more crowded they are for space, cover, water, or food resources, the seemingly more "pushy" they are. In my area that mostly isn't a thing. The water is as good in the next creek as in this one, same for cover, food sources, etc, so it is not worth the risk of a hostile encounter with humans. Other places, like Arizona and New Mexico seem to report more assertive behavior. Likewise in the south though I don't understand that as much. That is not to say there are no places where they get pushy in the Pac NW. I've heard a good bit about that sort of thing in the upper CLackamas / Mollala areas. If it were about 4-5 hours closer I'd go see for myself. The other component of behavior is the demographics of the witness. MIB
