Some of the coolest things I've seen in the woods have been while turkey hunting. We turkey hunt by going out the previous afternoon and locating a flock, noting what areas they are feeding and traveling in, then seeing where they roost at night. Then, we pick a spot where we think they will go to in the morning and get there before light, set up a blind, or do a makeshift blind, and set up a couple of decoys. We are totally camouflaged, head to toe, and stay absolutely still since turkeys can detect the slightest movement at great distances. Then we just sit there dead silent and motionless until it gets light out and the turkeys (hopefully) fly down to within shooting distance of our hiding spots. I've had deer walk up to me and sniff my boots, and birds land on my hat. I've seen cougars stalking deer, and tons of wildlife that never knew I was there. If I knew of a spot that had heavy BF activity, I would use the turkey hunting method to spot one.5 points

He's been in bigfootery for a while from what I can tell and I think he has an idea about himself as an expert. Everyone else (with the exception of researchers he respects) is beneath him. I never would have noticed him except he created and publicized numerous, repetitive anti-Mike Paterson videos. I'm not aware of him going over the edge like that against other people. So maybe he is losing his grip. That is an unfortunate pattern of some BF researchers.2 points

You went to investigate a sighting. You found evidence. Incident reporter then told you he was hoaxing you. You still believed BF was there?1 point

@SWWASAS Most of the time when I believe that there might be a creature watching me in a spot. I will walk right at it and get it to break cover. They will either charge you or run off. But either way you are going to know if there's Bigfoot there. Sure it's going to get your heart pumping but how else will you know that you are alive. Even better you know if you are being hoaxed as well. I am sure they are not going to like a 12 up there ying yang . I have many experiences during turkey season in Michigan. Especially in the evening hunts for some reason. The early morning hunts are not that bad and love getting the toms talking. It is fun watching them fluff out and doing their figure eight thing. I usually never put out decoys and call them out . It is just fun trying to speak like them and bringing them in. All public land hunting too. No wonder hunters have the most encounters since most are alone out in the wilderness on public land. @Moonface For myself I cannot be neutral on this. This is not a game. It is real for me. I just cannot dismiss what occurred or what took placed. All though I did have a witness come back to and say he hoaxed me. But at the same time there was real evidence that could not be dismissed. I felt betrayed yet I could not dismiss what occurred. So as you can see I am not into this for entertainment . If you are then I am fine with that . There are allot people who are into this for entertainment and it is called ratings like all these T.V. shows that come out. You want to talk about industry well there on national T.V. is your entertainment.. That is annoyance and it is not just for us researchers but for these creatures. Now we have people out in the woods copying what they are seeing on T.V. . So who knows if we are even communicating with these creatures or other humans. It is impact that most researchers do not need. It impacts on spending for special soft ware just so that we can know if it is human or if it is some thing beyond the human range. Equipment to measure these sounds out in the field so that we are not being fooled. Thermo cameras so that we know what we are seeing out in the field. So are you getting where i am going with this. If there are people hunting these creatures not one of us want to make a fatal mistake. Safety will always be a priority. So the answer to your question " Does hoaxing bother you ? Darn tooting it does.1 point

I'm no expert....but unlike hunting, camping and hiking forums, you don't have folks posting random stories about something strange happening to them that catches the BF community's eye/ear.1 point

You could be right. Sounds like as good a method as anything. Strange thing was when the BF blundered into me, I had no idea the how active the area was. I did not find that out until I started scouting around the encounter location. Once I narrowed down the active area, I could not seem to cause them to blunder into me. Thinking about it, I think it was likely that they watched me enter their area, and always had me located when I was there. I might have made that easier for them by parking in the same location most of the time. In retrospect I wish I had made the trek to the ridgeline overlooking the creek valley, and set up a high power scope with camera. During the week they would move around in daylight hours and I had a good chance of seeing them. I thought I could outsmart them by mixing it up in their valley. But I did not give them enough credit for their ability to avoid me. An older juvenile messed with me some to let me know he was there, but never let me get a look at him. I am glad he never threw anything larger than a small rock. He was so accurate with that he could have killed me anytime with a larger rock.1 point

I am not sure on the theory that they migrate either as well in the area where i live in Michigan. I would have to look up cave locations in Michigan and maybe investigate them in the winter. Although I have seen some odd things in the woods where trees have fallen and there be hollowed out spots under the ground. Maybe there could be unexplored caves in Michigan that have been covered by debris that only these creatures know about. Places where they may give birth. If these creatures are like humans then giving birth does take allot out of the female. These females need a place where they can be safe where it can gain their strength back. Again this is all speculation. But it does make some sense right.1 point

That's the problem with Bigfootery, or whatever you want to call this. Nothing is proven, so it's easy to portray yourself as an expert. Just make crap up as you go along, stay relatively consistent with your story, cite other 'experts' who also make crap up, and you can come off as an authority. People think that memorizing and reciting the history of those involved in the search for Bigfoot and other trivia involved with it makes them an expert on the creatures themselves. I could correctly recite the names of everyone who has ever won the Nobel Prize for physics. Where they went to school, notable achievements, basic bios... That does not make me a physicist myself. That makes me adept at reciting memorized nuggets of trivial information. When someone begins name dropping researchers, I zone out. You are not an expert on Bigfoot, you are an expert on other human beings who are also interested in Bigfoot. Some of us have our pet theories and sometimes see what we think are patterns in the creatures' behavior, movements, or biological drives. We can identify commonalities in reported sightings and try to predict future encounters. Otherwise, we are basically fumbling around in the dark. If we weren't we would have definitive proof by now. Anyone who says that they are an expert is full of it.1 point

Thank you Moonface. Yes, there seem to be a few of us arriving. I'm sure there are people who have issues with the Finding Bigfoot television series, but I can't help thinking its popularity has encouraged more global curiosity in the subject.1 point

I thought it was a new troll, and that would have been fun. But it turns out he's the same old troll I banned a few weeks back. Dude's not playing with a full deck, the only time he can count to 20 is when he's barefoot. You would've ended up feeling sorry for him = No Fun.1 point

I'm going on a short 2-day tent camping trip in Idaho with my girlfriend next week in a pretty remote area. Our main focus will be on taking the UTV on some trips to huckleberry patches and digging for garnets. Lots of bears in the area and a few wolves. Not going to be a "Bigfoot Expedition" per se. I don't have a thermal camera, or even a video camera with night vision, yet, so not sure how effective we would be going out at night. But at least we will be out in the wilderness and aware of our surroundings and looking for evidence. Better than nothing, I suppose. Area we'll be in:1 point

Sounds like he stays on the West side of the state. We're a bit more trigger happy here on the East side and into Idaho. I don't know if I would shoot a Bigfoot if given the opportunity, due to my morals on taking a life only for self-defense or food. But I would probably shoot a guy in a Bigfoot suit trying to hoax people, lol.1 point

Well, that was insulting, lol. Makes you wonder if we'll read about him some day trolling the wrong person in the woods, doesn't it?1 point

@Kiwakwe Great picture of a rattler and a close call with the second one. Wowser! I've had three rattler encounters and the thing I remember most of all three is how much energy was focused on watching its head and every micro-movement it made. I tuned out everything else.1 point

Doesn't look like it's missed a meal either, K. Glad you and "w" came out of things okay. In fact, even though witnesses sometimes describe "skinny" BF's most of the pics and vids (blurry as they are) says that BF's don't miss meals either! Hard to believe a few berries can pack on that much weight, but we all know it isn't just berries and that if bears can do it year after year? Then BF's can too. Now all we have to do is secure a bit of proof, right? Or a LOT of proof depending on how fortunate one is.1 point

You spend time, money, energy, and effort on hoaxing Bigfoot believers. Then, go onto a public forum to brag about the hoaxing. Seems counterproductive.1 point

@wiiawiwb, Survived yet another close call!! Bet the gaiters are on next time and you never see another. That "print" looks as if a sas was running on its toes. Does seem to have potential. Love hearing the loons at night, nothing like it. I had 2 run-ins with rattlers in 4 days while in the AZ strip. I saw the first before stepping down off of a rock onto it, the second I didn't see but the warning sent me flying, don't think I've ever jumped so far. Did a bit of research on gaiters after that. The latter encountered in the appropriately named Snake Gulch and pictured below, a Grand Canyon rattler I believe: Screen Shot 2020-07-17 at 7.56.59 PM by LIght Pirate, on Flickr1 point

http://bigfootevidence.blogspot.com/2018/07/border-patrol-agent-has-bigfoot.html#more U.S. Border Patrol Agent's Bigfoot Story Few places are more wild and eerie than the vast barren lands of the U.S./Mexico border. The California section of the border is a hotspot for the U.S. Border Patrol to find undocumented immigrants before they make their way into the county. Many of these folks find their way through the treacherous Otay Mountains, which lie just north of the border near San Diego CA. A spooky sighting from border patrol agent Rocky Elmore indicates that it is not only immigrants who frequent these mountains. Bigfoot may actually call this region home. This harsh terrain has been the backdrop of many tales over the years, including crashed phantom pilots, faceless ghosts, and according to Agent Elmore, Sasquatch. After two decades of service along the border, Elmore thought he’d seen it all, which he details in his book ‘Out on Foot’. That changed the night that he came within close proximity to what he later came to find out was likely Bigfoot. According to Elmore, he was hot on the trail of some immigrants along the Otay River. A thick, creeping fog settled in when he heard a heavy splash in the water. Although the fog prevented him from seeing who or what crashed into the water, he could sense something that was both large and frightening. A chill zapped down his spine as intense fear filled his body. He wasn’t alone in his terror; coyotes near the water ran past Elmore, retreating from whatever had suddenly made itself known in the black waters beyond the fog. A colleague operating a thermal scope later confided in Elmore that he had seen a big, bipedal creature with an intense heat signature that appeared to be stalking two agents who were on foot. They never saw the creature, but they were given the order to abandon the area immediately once the scope operator observed the unknown creature, who he termed a large “predator,” noting that the creature had come within just a few steps of the pair of unsuspecting government workers. This tale is among the most eerie Bigfoot sightings on record. What could have possibly created that enormous heat profile? This account just goes to show that wherever there are vast expanses of nearly uninhabited wilderness, there seem to always be wandering Sasquatch in the fog nearby.1 point
