  1. Enjoyed another evening around a fire pit with my elderly father and his best friend, a retired criminal justice professor. We were discussing my latest camping trip and the possible tree twisting damage from a BF when my dad's friend mentioned an article he read recently about a black bear in the region that generated a slew of Bigfoot sightings. Apparently, a black bear had taken to walking around on it's hind feet nearly full time. It was a rather large bear and was observed walking around on two feet nearly 100% of the time, which resulted in multiple reports of a Bigfoot. I had never heard of a bear engaging in such activity, but could see how such behavior would result in multiple false reports. I googled for reports of a black bear walking around on it's hind legs and could not find any results that matched with the conversation. Anybody else heard of such a thing? FYI, I did learn that my brother, who disavows any BF existence, did have an encounter with a creature that matches the description of the infamous Chupacabra while driving through Arizona a few years ago. Funny that he totally believes in that cryptic creature, but not BF.

  2. Target tree campground Close to Durango, Co. Heading to Pagosa Springs tomorrow to soak in hot spring. Moab UT was 105, ugh! It’s mid 80s here, doable! I kinda feel at home in the Ponderosas but undergrowth is some weird Oak leaf looking bush. 20 bucks per night, but super fancy USFS campground. Picnic area is elevated with timber and gravel with real steps. Not like home....

  4. Hey, glad I found this site...love everything BF related...I'm from SoCal, but my parents were from the upper PH of West Virginia. I spent 5 or 6 summers back there running the hills and hollers. I had an encounter in the Sierras when I was 16, but didn't relate it to bigfoot until I was in my late 40's. Again, glad to be here.

  5. I don’t think it’s at all unreasonable to think urban or rural dwellers could mistake a walking bear as a BF if viewed from the rear or maybe obscured by trees and branches. A large hairy/furry creature walking up right isn’t a common site so jumping to BF if you’ve only heard about it casually is not far fetched imo.

  6. I've been hearing from multiple family and friends how busy the forests have been this summer due to the virus and people wanting to get out. Record traffic in campgrounds and such. My camping trip last week was OK. I was about a mile from a USFS campground and drove though it to scout out things and there were plenty of spots empty. During the day at my campsite, maybe five vehicles drove by. I imagine over on the West side of the state, where people are insane, things are a whole lot worse and crazy.

  7. I meant no offense. Most of what I said was not directed at you but ideas others who were voicing methodology on the thread that seemed sure to cost them their equipment. You have had your drone in operation long enough now that you must be using a lot of prudence in operation. Even if techniques seem risky, most of us certainly would weigh the risk VS reward and pursue risky operations if there was a good chance of success in imaging BF. There are some supposed drone successes but nothing much noteworthy I am aware of. There must be hundreds of drones in use looking for BF at this point. I would say at this point, that like other methods of photography, drone photography is just a more complicated and expensive way to photograph without much sign of improving chances of success. Future events could prove me wrong, Perhaps someone will find the right use of the drone tool and start having success. Certainly it does not hurt to throw new technologies at the problem. In many ways I consider BF research may be solved by engineering advances combined with boots on the ground. If anything is going to work, it has to be something we are not doing. Old methods have proven to be ineffective.

  9. I want one just to carry my baited hook out past the surf when surf fishing. The exploration benefits could have come in very handy just a couple of days ago, too.
