  1. I agree it’s a futile effort but for different reason. An audio recording of a call or distressed sound is not going to have the same audio body and meaning to a BF when Played via a speaker. Live music vs recorded is a world of difference. I would guess a BF would spot out a recorded call vs legit call right away.

  3. This thread doesnt speak too well for the exist camp. We have members explaining the awful smell, even some as BO and not rotting flesh. Couple the smell from a bear with the "hair on the back of the neck" feeling or "feeling watched" and that's just a prey instinct with a large animal nearby....that's also very stinky. That explains a TON of Class B's.

  4. I'm gonna chime in to say I believe it would be counter-productive. One experienced guy on a podcast I recently posted said of calling one in, "don't make a call more than once, because they'll know it's fake". One call might get you checked out, was the gist, but I also think just regular human sounds will get you the same. Chop some wood, play some guitar, etc.

  5. This is one of the most compelling pieces of "evidence" for me. When lifelong hunters and woodsmen encounter something in the woods and they are so frightened, they give it up for a long time, if not forever, that says something to me. These folks know what is, and is not normal in the woods. All the hunters I have known, absolutely love it and would not quit on a whim. This indicates that something outside of their known reality happened and it shook them to the core.

  7. The deputy that responded to the 911 call on Dec 3rd, he asked if I knew who it was I just leveled with him about my son's encounter and I thought it might be a BF.. Well he had me just fill out the top of the police report, which contained my name, address, and number. he said he would fill out the statement part of the report later.. I went to the Sheriffs office the next morning, filled out a report and provided the video from camera system and that Deputy asked me to walk outside, leveled withe that they knew they excist, gave me some advice and his personal number..he checked in with me the next day by phone.. Later in Dec when the activity was every day and night, the deputy who I met at the Sheriffs office, came out to my house ...I overheard a conversation he had with the Sheriff of the County..told the Sheriff he was on "one of them" trespassering calls..the Sheriff knew what he meant and only asked him where I was located.. The Deputy while at my property, called a friend, a ex cop/Military researcher, Troy Hudson of the NOBRO.. Troy and I have become friends through it all and I talk to him a few times each week, etc..

  8. Sure enough, my #1 hunting bullet (200 grain .308 Nosler Accubond) is already on backorder status at Midway. I'll make a recon run tomorrow to see if I can scare up a couple boxes locally. I maintain a stock of both ammo (reloaded or factory) for each of my weapons, and a stock of reloading components for those loads I build. I have enough to build another 100 rounds (which will last for years), and still have 50 bullets left, but it's time to restock. I single stage load my hunting and long gun bear defense ammo, and of course, all load development work is individualized. I'm constantly trying different things with a few rifles in pursuit of perfection. That, along with checking zero, is the bulk of my long gun range shooting. All handgun carry loads and military long gun ammo stocks (with the exception of sniper loads) are factory or government surplus loads. That is standard practice for both legal mitigation as well as dependability. Range practice with the handguns is with reloads created at the progressive RCBS press, unless I need more brass. Then I buy cheap loads, shoot them up, and reload the brass. Either hunting ammo or practice ammo, I tend to load up a stock that will last a while. I'm catching up with load perfection for my long guns. One more load for each of five rifles will pretty much do it, and that wouldn't even have been necessary if California hadn't gone 100% lead fee ammo for hunting.

  10. I was wondering if listening to George Noory makes you feel like you need ammo or if it is the other way around. Lately listening to the news makes me feel the need to get more ammo.

  11. Yep, but only for a few years now, so still pretty much a newbie. I also cast my own bullets. My dad is a sub-contractor for an ammo company that sells specialty cast lead bullets, and I occasionally work for him. He does around 40,000 bullets a year, while I may do maybe 2000. I really enjoy reloading and initially did it to save money and to tailor my loads for competition. Now it's out of necessity since there is virtually no 9mm ammo available locally. Just cranked out another 100 rounds the other night of premium 9mm self-defense ammo...
