  1. More Sotol snacks....they seem to love this stuff, the left-overs always look the same and certainly follow a predictable pattern.

  2. An interesting story out of Siberia that I cannot confirm, but suspect is in a thread around here somewhere. A bunch of prisoners escaped from the gulag archipelago after WW II. Not sure if they were German soldiers or Soviet political prisoners, but once out of the prison, where do you go? They walked south. Of the original 4 or 5, only 1 made it far enough. He got to India. As if that isn't amazing enough, I believe (and I could be wrong) that sole survivor of the long walk may have seen a yeti at some point during his travels. As I typed this, the phrase "long walk" struck a cord and I found this information (which contradicts a lot of what I thought I knew). http://www.prisonhistory.net/prison-escapes/siberia-escape-the-long-walk/

  3. Okay, hopefully, this picture will show up well. If it does, you should see what looks like two transit corridors in the higher (for us easterners) ground on the east and west sides of Franklin county and down into Maryland. Hope this helps.

  5. We saw our sasquatches this summer using a FLIR. We would not have known they were there, otherwise. We could hear brush breaking but the most logical assumption would have been deer. What we saw were not deer! Also, I really like the advantage seeing in the dark that technology gives you. It's awesome. This is how they will be verified.

  6. We had one of those butterflies visit us at our lunch stop in the BC Coast Mtns on Sunday. I was surprised to see it at about 3500 ft above the valley floor, where the nights have been freezing for the last week or so. Sotol doesn't grow here, but there have been sightings of Sasquatch earing the roots of cat tails/bullrushes in the spring.

  7. My outings in the fall are always multi-purpose; hunting, researching, prospecting, and 4x4 exploring. Our hunting seasons here in BC are quite long, generally running from Sep. through Dec., varying slightly in the 8 large management units. There's also a 10 week spring season for black bear and cougar.

  8. I managed to get a nice long day in the mountains, with fellow BFFer MagniAesir and another sasquatch seeker, Robert J. It was a beautiful sunny fall day, cool in the morning, but warm enough to sit in shirtsleeves at lunch time, overlooking a deep wooded valley while we ate, glassed the area, and chatted for a couple of hours. Though we were about 40km off pavement, the great weather brought out lots of 4x4s, quads, and bikes, so chances of spotting any sasquatch or game near the logging roads was very slim. Our ace up the sleeve for that situation was the drone that Robert brought along, and piloted like a pro. He got in a long flight across the valley to a peak on the far side, and another later in the afternoon, along the large creek that feeds the lake in the S end of the valley. We couldn't spot any creatures on the small cell phone screen while it was in flight, but we will study the high res images after he gets them uploaded, and yes, I will post a link to them here when that's done, he's already OKed that. We stayed in the valley till dusk (much too early now that DST is over), then headed back out to pavement, over an hour away on the less than smooth logging roads. For now, all I can offer are my usual phone cam shots of the valley. The peaks at the N end of the valley The lake below to the South A late season butterfly came for a visit at lunch time Down at the beach near dusk. Yes, the fish were rising, and we had no fishing gear :-( Zoom in on the water between the trucks, and you'll see the rings from the rises! The large creek feeding the lake.

  9. You could have saved me a lot of typing by just stating you are a JREFer. I thought I was having a legitimate conversation.
