  1. I was a lurker here for a few years. My first introduction to Sasquatch was as a 4-5th grader. One of my older brothers had a yellow paperback book about Bigfoot. For the last 16 years or so my interest went crazy even more. The only people I know who had an encounter was my 2nd ex wife and her family. It was 1976 or 1977 when her dad was driving to Louisiana to see an old Air Force buddy. They said it was late probably close to 10-11pm cause they had stopped to eat a couple of hours earlier for dinner. This was close to Beaumont, Texas. Her dad was driving, mom was riding shotgun, oldest sister and brother in the middle seat and her and her two younger brothers were asleep in the back area of their station wagon. She was awaken to the station wagon making a extreme swerve which made them roll in the back. At the same time her mother let out a loud scream. The sister and brother were awake playing in the middle seat. The mother started praying and the dad floored it. This was told to me about 2004 after we started dating. Her older sister recounted the story. She saw it. A tall black dark figure she said looked like a gorilla jumped across the road in 3 steps. Her mom started doing the sign of the cross and saying it was the devil. The oldest brother in the middle started crying. The three in back did not see it. It ran across the road from right to left. She was on the drivers side and saw it turn to look at the car as it passed. The dad sped up and the mother was now screaming for him to slow down. She was also calling it the devil. Now the youngest 3 in back started crying with the break down of the mom. The dad was a good family friend and worked with my dad. A solid Air Force Veteran who was a F-105 Mechanic in Vietnam. Sadly the dad passed in 2002. The mother in 2007, and the oldest sister in 2019. All from cancer. I still remeber the seriousness she was when she spoke of it. The oldest brother did not see it. He was on the passengers side behind the mom. This family is honest. They never went public out of fear of ridicule.

  2. Pretty much an idea that died on the vine. Has some potential but it would need generous funding.

  3. Sasquatch Chronicles had an interesting interview recently (episode 715) of a witness named Joseph who 10 years ago was backpacking in the Big Cypress National Preserve and ran into bigfoot like creatures. https://sasquatchchronicles.com/sc-ep715-these-monsters-chasing-me/ He backpacked from south to north; started by the Tamiami Trail (Hwy 41) and followed the Florida Trail all the way north to Highway 75 (Alligator Alley). Per my Gaia GPS trail mapping, it is about 28 miles. The eyewitness said in the interview that it was about 30 miles (but that is ok since there are different routes). I think his plan was to spend 2 nights and backpack 3 days. The first night he set up a hammock and was visited by creatures that were making all sorts of noises and apparently disturbed his backpack. The 2nd day he claims to have seen 3 of these creatures while hiking during the daytime, and one of them kept following him. The intimidation from the creature that was following him caused him to almost panic. He got rid of his backpack and ran all the way to the exit point. Per my estimate, that would have been a long hike out in summer heat (assuming that he backpacked 10 miles on day one). When he arrived at the truck stop, he collapsed exhausted and probably with PTSD. He was taken by ambulance to Naples (there should be a record of that). It is a good interview and story. I downloaded the trail route from Gaia GPS into Google Earth to take a look at the terrain. I made the following observations: 1) While the environment is a cypress swamp, there are many open spaces with clear views and where the tree density is low. Thus, it makes sense what he said that the creatures could not hide well behind the small cypress trees. See sample image below. 2) If BF creatures live there year-round, are moving in day-time, and if they are moving along some of these open spaces, then maybe evidence could be detected via satellite photography in Google Earth. Some of these creatures are claimed to be at least 4 ft wide (I don’t know if GE could detect that). 3) The GE map shows several airports and ranch houses close to the trail and within the Big Cypress National Preserve. Wonder if the people who live in these ranch houses have some stories to tell. One of the ranch houses right in the middle of the Big Cypress National Preserve is called Romor Ranch. I was curious and looked it up and it is available for sale. Below are a couple of YouTube videos describing the place. In the video images, you can see the wide-open expanses within the cypress swamp. If anybody wants to buy some property to do BF research in Florida, this might be the place! I have hiked in the Everglades in the past, and learned never to visit during the summer. It is hot, humid, and full of mosquitos. Best time to hike is during the winter. Joseph, the young man (19 year old) who backpacked this solo was either brave or foolhardy (maybe both). I am glad he survived and told his story.
