  1. I just noticed a new season will air on January 3rd on Travel Channel. A different location this time. "The advanced data algorithm has revealed a 75,000-acre swatch of Appalachian forest in southeast Kentucky." https://www.travelchannel.com/shows/expedition-bigfoot/articles/expedition-bigfoot-season-two-announcement We had a rather lively discussion about this series when it aired last December: https://bigfootforums.com/topic/71271-expedition-bigfoot-travel-channel/page/10/ Time to resharpen our topo-map skills.

  2. Slings are like holsters. I have multiple slings for most of my rifles. My favorite slings BY FAR for my hunting rifles are the rubber Slogan Outdoor Slings. They are extremely comfortable for rifle carry, they do not slip off of your shoulder as you walk and stumble around in the brush, and they have excellent properties for slinged up shooting stability. I use Giles Tactical slings on my "assault rifles" and shotguns. Giles has a video on their website that show their versitility. But I wouldn't mind finding a better tactical sling. The Giles is almost perfect......... I have Ching slings for some of my Scout rifles, but I almost always use the rubber Slogans on them now.

  3. Diamond D makes high quality but simple slings. https://www.diamonddcustomleather.com/products/rifle-sling You're not alone in hating them. Unless you are carrying over armor, a single point is just a pain to deal with...

  4. I'm not the expert for certain, but perhaps if you could describe the rifle and its intended use (i.e. hunting rifle, tactical, shotgun, etc.), you may get a more accurate recommendation. I finally settled on a single point sling for the AR that I built. Not sure of the brand, but it works OK.

  6. I have a portable (not mounted on my truck) winch but the problem most of the time if you get in a situation like Norseman's the cable on the winch is not long enough to reach anything that you can attach to to pull yourself out. Since the winch has to be powered by the truck it has to be close to the vehicle. This capstan can be used with a rope considerably longer than most winches cables. Since it is self powered, you can just strap it to a tree or big rock to pull out your vehicle. A bit spendy but might be worth it. https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/Portable Winch Co. 7. I agree with you, but their target audience loves that sort of stuff. Shoot, they probably sleep at a nice hotel each night and those tents are just props. Not much real about reality tv, no matter what the subject matter might be. At the end of the day, it doesn't paint the participants in a negative light the way Mountain Monsters or to a lesser degree Finding Bigfoot does. In my mind, it's probably the best that we can hope for as far as a Bigfoot themed TV show. It was fun watching their Facebook group implode after news came out that they were on a vacation ranch and not in the wilderness.

  8. I agree, but it is deceitful though. That algorithm line is deceitful and it's used time and time again.

  12. I'm an astronomy professor and know my gadgets. I've been interested in the bigfoot pheomenon since I was a kid with the PG-film and the tv/movie/documentaries of the 1970s. Often my career keeps me too busy to hit the woods, but in the last two decades I've made many trips to areas of activity from the LA/TX/OK region to the PNW of CA/OR/WA. I've been to most of the famous spots and know some of the famous people, such as they are in the bigfoot world. Currently I live in WY and hit the Colorado Rockies when I can and the PNW every year or two for a longer trip. I'm still seeking a good sighting, but have heard wood knocks and whoops, seen tracks, and smelled smells in multiple locations. Enough to keep looking and having fun, hoping for more in 2021.

  15. My great great grandfather Lou Robbers was the 1st mayor of Index. Where they take Harry at the end. He also owned the 1st car in town. He is seated in drivers seat. They brought it in on the railroad. You can see the Index sign in the background

  16. Well, yeah, but that's where I live. So. Better that I have it than whomever owned it previously! FWIW I always carry mace and I walk a big black dog. No one's bothered me. And old doggo is NOT doing well. Might not have to walk late at night for too long now. He's had trouble keeping his back legs under him lately and he's had five accidents over the last four days :( He's deaf and going blind and nearly 13. I just hope he makes it til I get my tax return so I can have him cremated and he can go on the shelf with the other two pets :(
