  1. Its officially 2021 and im starting the year off right tomorrow A.M. and figured I what everyone else has planned for the new year. Or see if anyone wanted to share some goals for 2021 research year. Tomorrow im going to scout an area to place a Mic Tree that weve built. 6 Mics, multi directional, in a active area, crossed fingers. Ill be using a Zoom H5, and some nano cameras. Im also working on a few other prosthetic covers for some equipment that will help it blend into the species of tree I place it on. I'll also be scouting an area over the next few days looking for some fresh tracks in the area due to the wet weather weve had recently. I like to cast all the species I can find so I have a record of the food supply in the area and plaster is cheaper than a game cam lol. I'm hoping to collect more casts this year and really hoping to catch some good audio. If I only get one sample of audio this year I'll be satisfied with 2021 lol.

  2. Bob Barhite is a friend of mine, and he has run good expeditions that I have attended. I'm not sure they can have the same good experiences as his expeditions in Iowa or Wisconsin have provided, but they do a good job of scouting areas beforehand. In Minnesota, you are very likely to run into many of my friends and you will enjoy the experience. I recommend it if you have not done one. I am unlikely to do official BFRO expeds anymore because of the non-disclosure agreement. I want to be able to share location, should I have more encounters. The first time fee is higher to discourage the less enthusiastic participants. It'll be cheaper as a repeat attendee at future expeditions. The fee never bothered me. I like to think of it as an affordable vacation with great friends.

  3. I first saw a Slogan Outdoors rubber sling at an outdoor show here in Palmer, Alaska. I was immediately impressed with it, but thought it was too expensive, so didn't buy one. After a few years using Browning nylon All Weather slings, I decided to finally get the rubber one to try it. I couldn't find one at any store, nor at major online suppliers. I had to do a bit of digging, but found Slogan online and ordered one. I've since bought a few more for my other hunting rifles. http://www.sloganoutdoors.com

  4. Ive got my fingers crossed. The area Im setting up the recorder in first is a spot where we got some audio while recording for a TV show in October. The audio we got was distant so I'm going to set up in a bowl near there and hopefully use it as a natural amphitheater to collect anything coming and going.

  5. Throw in a duffle bag with extra clothes, a bunch of Mainstay bars, a sleeping bag and some water, at least! So glad you're safe. Be careful, man. I like reading your posts here! Happy new year!

  7. Going to order myself a pair of those snake gaiters. Not because I'm currently going into heavy snake areas....but just in case I ever am. Thanks for the recommendation! Also never heard of Whites Boots. Don't think I'm in the market for a pair, but they look very nice.

  8. Sound profiles have their own uniqueness. I like your strategy and maybe you can get a recording which doesn't match up with some other known species!

  9. The folks behind this film started a podcast, "Bigfoot Today." It's pretty good. "Bigfoot, bigfoot roaming through the land Bigfoot, Bigfoot, a hairy ape-like man..." 🎶 https://spokanetalksmedia.com/bigfoot-today-episode-1 https://spokanetalksmedia.com/bigfoot-today-episode-2 <-- Port Chatham episode https://spokanetalksmedia.com/bigfoot-today-episode-3-bigfoot-of-stevens-county

  10. Hoping everyone had a great Christmas, and wishing you a Happy New Year! Exciting news for me....an old family friend finally came clean with some Hairyman activity. His family has a 4000 acre ranch, been in their family a long time, lotta hardwoods, no hunting, and set up as a private natural reserve. Anyway, they have Elk on the property and a few of the males die each year during the rut from fighting, dead on the ground one day, gone the next.....no trace or drag marks, clearly being carried off. My buddy went out at dusk recently to inspect a dead Elk, he just wants to be sure there aren't any sign of poaching. While inspecting the animal, he was overcome with fear, then heard movement in the nearby brush. He whipped out his camera with thermal capabilities, and got a nice video, and shows a large animal crouched down on all 4 legs, get up on 2 and run off. I'll be heading there in a few weeks to do several days of camping:)

  11. Nah, Norse, just skip the step and take the Kabota next time. It would also come in handy for hauling out 700 lbs. worth of Sasquatch
