  1. My son and our friend have started a business together. Selkirk Outfitters Right now they are a custom fab shop. But are gearing up to focus on overlanding. Their current project is building a aluminum flatbed for a Toyota Hilux that used to be a Tokyo fire truck. The customer is a long range shooter that travels to competitions. They have also built custom bumpers for people. As well as boat tops. My 2013 Dodge Ram 3500 is next on the list! If you have a project your thinking about for getting deep into the back woods? Give them a shout! Wyatt 509-690-4140

  2. NatFoot, I did not exclude the PNW Sasquatch tourist trade. I just did not post about it. British Columbia ( Harrison Hot Springs ) has advertised the big guy for many years. I believe that motorized type tours in BC and elsewhere are subdued do to the flu. Museum attendance??? We do not have pole boat or airboat tours. The PNW Sasquatch has better hair, does not smell like a skunk and therefore more suited for potato chip, beer, jerky, garment, window decal and everything else marketing. We could have a professional type sporting team...........GO SKOOKUMS! Back to the thread. Black, shiny straight hair that moves freely.

  4. Just received some 18650 batteries (Sanyo 3500mAh, flat top) so I had a chance to fiddle with a new Zebralight SC600Fc. I was not a believer before but am now. It's a great flashlight that will give you plenty of juice if you need brightness and will also provide significant run time. Medium, Level 2 is 66 lumens which should last for ~30 hours. Crazy! This model is 4500K and High CRI which provides a warm-colored light that I wanted. I think it provides a better light profile for color recognition than my 4Sevens Mini which is a cool white with a center spot. The ZL lens is frosted so the light is diffused without a hot spot. Very pleased with it. Have a 18650 headlamp en route from Sofirn so once it arrives I can compare the coloration and beam pattern with the ZL.

  5. That's awesome! And as BlackRockBF said, post on overlanding forums. Expedition Portal is a good one with a wide audience. Heck, if my wife and I were wealthy we'd probably have a serious project for you!

  7. So how long have they been at the same site claiming routine contact but still basically have nothing but cool stories?

  8. Glad to hear that NAWAC is actively pursuing video and photo capture again, after abandoning that strategy post Operation Forest Vigil. The podcast provided a clear explanation of the differences between Operation Forest Vigil and the new strategy. I wish them success in capturing photographic evidence. While I understand the rationale used for disconnecting the IR flash at night on the game cameras, I don't understand the overall strategy for doing that since they will not be able to capture any photos or video at night. I always thought that probability of detection increases with the time the camera is active on the field. They are assuming that probability of detection at night is low or zero when IR flash is active. Thus, they chose no effective cameras at night. I guess they are assuming that if one wood ape detects the IR flash at night from one camera, then all wood-apes in the area will also know about its location (via some form of communication?) and will also avoid the area during the day? I like the Hadrian Wall idea and the alignment of the 24 cameras so that they capture the cameras themselves within their field of view (to see if any animal is disturbing them). Would be interesting to do one year without IR flash in all the cameras and one year with IR flash on all the cameras, to see if it makes any difference on detection of the rest of the fauna in the area.

  9. I would agree with that, but when and how it would change the equation is almost unpredictable. Believe it or not, I can already hear them say that said corpse is a freak, and another would be required.........no, don't laugh, because that very line was used when the first Homo floresiensis skeleton was extracted. They have to know, and at least five national governments have to be complicit. The question should be: Why are they hiding these creatures? There is only one credible answer: Because they are simultaneously protecting the last dying hominid race from homo sapien contamination and abuse, and protecting themselves from the responsibility of managing relations with this dying race.
