I guess it depends on what you mean by that. I am a researcher at heart and that's my focus, but I'm also (sometimes painfully) aware that the charter / guidelines for BFF state that it is for discussion of bigfoot-related stuff, it is not a research site. It might be necessary to address updating the charter / guidelines depending on what your intent is. It might also be appropriate to consider something in the Bigfoot Research Groups sub-section of the forum. I do not know what this supposed next level is nor whether I will have anything to do with it. My time is MY time. I've discovered that bigfooting comes out of my time. That is, I still have to do my job, I still have to do my house / yard chores and take care of my responsibilities. Bigfooting, like fishing and backpacking, comes out of that too-narrow sliver of time that is truly mine. I'm not going to tolerate anyone (ANYONE) telling me how to divide that up. I'm interested in others' ideas but I alone will be the one deciding which, if any, I adopt for my own use. MIB2 points

@NatFootThat is the exact reason we're doing this. Even our confrence is going to opporate the same way. If you don't leave witha new skill or tool to use in the field then we're not doing it right. We noticed the field lacked in this capacity a long time ago and now were in the position to do something to make it different for future researchers. Plus, its gonna be a blast!2 points

They can easily take it away...and then trot out a gorilla carcass along with a story about how an ape escaped an illegal private collection and was mistaken for a Bigfoot. The government completely controls the press. No one would question their story without being called a conspiracy theorist or a nut job.1 point

Why prove the existence of Sasquatch to anyone? Especially to big government. Government already has proof. They actually have specimens. It's all about money and what it would do to religion if these things were made public. And they'd be hunted down and killed for absolutely no reason but fame. If anything I think these beings need protection from us.1 point

Report. Went back to my old haunts behind Lake Ellen. Got almost to the cow corrals before the snow got to deep. And I didn’t want to chance it again! 😬 Saw a lot of moose sign, blow downs from all the wind we are having and the skunk cabbage is in full bloom. I did find two tracks in a spring off the side of the road. Pretty old. Nothing I would send to Meldrum but they were human shaped with a heel. No toes visible and they were bigger than my size 12 boots. So? Who knows? Both pictures have a .45-70 shell for comparison and the tracks are pointing left. On the way out I snuck onto the Rez and checked out Elbow lake. Cool area! The tribe has logged back in there recently. White mountain has a lot of snow on it still. Last pic is of the Columbia river on the way out and they are still feeding the Angus bulls together on the Cowley ranch.1 point

Cool, thank you WB, first positive thing that's come out of this. Odd that, don't ya think? I don't think a majority of any kind would even be necessary. The docusign idea is a good one actually. Some input from members about that could help some. But some care, or questions regarding it, might be in order first. At least it one step that could be broken down or looked into further. One thing I do know, though, whatever anyone does needs to be done with a critical, if not diplomatic eye. In other words, I'd have to put myself in a scientist's seat, working away at whatever field I specialize in. One day I open up my emails and see this correspondence out of the blue from a bunch of people who offer a docusigned statement they support me and are requesting that I pursue the study of Bigfoot. What would that be like? Would it make me think a bit? Could really use some more thoughts on this. It's good, it's positive, and it helps that you clearly understood the point being made. Really 'preciate that. Whaddaya think folks? Agree? Disagree? Other ideas?1 point

No one is asking you to. Especially me because this thread isn't about DNA evidence and why folks keep insisting on making DNA the subject of this discussion is beyond me. Shall we get back on track? This is about inputting suggestions on how to move the BF community forward as a whole toward a goal of discovery. Just about everything that has been said so far has involved skipping steps necessary to somehow get science involved. Scientists wading in on this subject in numbers would be a great help but scientists are not hearing from us as a collective. I think that's one thing that we could easily change should we so desire. And we might move toward that goal as so far it is an unproven methodology that could be tried. Like I said scientists like when the public gets interested and responds to their efforts in whatever relative field that would apply to the Bigfoot subject. I wouldn't be too sure about that, WB. I also agree that the government knows about these creatures. But the BF community has no credibility as far as the government goes, and why should anyone care about that anyway. What we should more care about our credibility with scientists and seek out the ones who want to investigate the matter. They are out there and I really do think they need our support....not just one of us. As many as are willing to back them. Scientists need the kind of boost that only a large supportive audience from the private sector can give them. There is a grassroots out there, scientists who are interested in investigating Bigfoot. Should they start hearing from us? As I said, this is only one suggestion that anyone or everyone would have an easy time doing. Scientists like to hear from the public and they do respond. I'm sure people have other suggestions that may be better than this and this thread is meant to give a platform for those suggestions.1 point

Got out in the woods today, finally. Sunny and breezy with temps in the low 60's. Headed East into Idaho and saw a little bit of snow on the hills. Got to my secret morel spot and there was no snow and very little mud. The surrounding area showed signs of excessive winds with several large trees down. You can see their root balls spread out over the area. The area next to my clear cut area got logged heavily last year. Lots of elk and deer sign... Got all excited at finding what I thought initially was a tree structure... But, upon closer inspection and the high winds in the area earlier, I think it was likely just a random phenomenon. Still, it was odd. Trunks showed evidence of lots of force and twisting... Still too early for morels and too late for antlers, so no bounty. Decided to go check out a really Squatchy area deeper in the woods, but there ended up being a lot of heavy, frozen snow and I nearly got stuck a couple of times when my 4Runner broke through the crust. Turned around and got buried a couple of times on the way out, but didn't take pictures. I was puckered up pretty bad and just wanted to get back to dirt. Just got a pic on the way in before I started sinking in.1 point

Hello Fellow Bigfooters & Sasquatchers. I'm from South Arkansas...about 2 hours away from where the Fouke Monster/Legend of Boggy Creek is purported to live. My uncle and his family lived in Fouke about 30 years ago (I was around 15 years old), and he, along with my cousins, convinced me of its existence. I haven't personally had an encounter, although, I am trying to get a trip planned this summer to the area to do a little 'research' of my own. I look forward to being a part of this intellectual community!1 point

I used “your” as a blanket term. As in anyone’s.... So your no longer a pro kill proponent. Duly noted. Shooting rare species to provide a type specimen to be documented by science is BETTER than letting the rare species drift off quietly into the darkness. If a species cannot sustain ONE death? Then? It’s going extinct anyhow. At least the DNA of the type specimen can be preserved and maybe at some point in the future be resurrected by science. Like what they are attempting to do with mammoths. Self defense and guilt or innocence belongs in court cases between citizens of the USA. It has no bearing in Biology. Biologists collect type specimens every year. Whatever Bigfoot is? It’s not a Homo Sapien. So whatever legalities arise with discovery will come AFTER. Not before.... There should be no malice inferred. It’s just how science works. Disclosure? We are talking about disclosure.... Hello? Your NOT going to force the government into admitting anything without leverage. Something conclusive. We have tried plaster casts, film, audio, hair samples, fecal samples, etc.... I hate to sound like a broken record here.1 point

That has been the ongoing theme for some time. Meldrum is the default scientific presence but so far this has led to negligible or minimal scientific validity behind such expeditions. Any number of documentaries or reality shows where he is included leads to....[fill in the blank as long as it is a synonym of nothing]. The only outside the box thinking that is needed for scientific validity is the mythical carcass. I'd like to put to the test the theory that the gov will confiscate it. So long as you don't drop it on federal or state land, it would be interesting to see what the authorities would do about it, if anything.1 point

Hello, everyone. I've been interested in Bigfoot since 1995. I was a Assist. Producer on Bigfoot Central (ArtistFirst.com) in the early 2000. I also was an avid collector at one time. Accumulated over 25 large containers. In the last couple of years I've sold items to Daniel Perez, Cliff Barackman, Loren Coleman and other well known researchers to lighten the load. Down to maybe four containers. Thanks for reading my post. Tom C.1 point

I've just looked over all the threads in the last three pages or so. My conclusion has left me wondering if anyone has any thoughts about moving this Forum to the next level? I also think everyone might know what that move would entail. This goes to the possibility that the most important anthropological discovery of the last two centuries could actually happen within our lifetimes. Think about it......within our own lifetimes.0 points
