  1. I got out for a very nice day in the hills with 2 of my good trail buddies, Thomas Steenburg and Magniaesir. Our goal was a small lake high in a mountain pass between 2 creek drainages. We'd been there before, a few years ago, and felt it was remote enough and "squatchy" enough to warrant another visit. We made it to the lake, but weren't able to descend the creek on the far side, as right alongside the lake the trail was covered in 3 to 4' of heavy wet spring snow. We spent a couple of hours there, enjoying the beautiful weather and looking for tracks in the mud and snow around the lake. No interesting tracks were located, and the only wildlife evident were a couple of ducks in the lake, and drumming of grouse in the surrounding forest. We sat and had a light lunch, then headed back out the way we had come, in order to get Thomas back home in time to appear on yet another podcast being recorded tonight.

  2. Stuck like stuck, stuck. How can that happen to you again and again. If it keeps on happening you might need a better vehicle like an earth mover. This way you just plow your way through.

  4. Had a great trip with Nathan! Pretty country! Rain today. Nice yesterday. Saw a couple cool suggestive track ways. Nothing solid. Nathan did some audio and thermal recordings last night. Saw lots of Mule deer. No Moose, no Elk. Saw a Griz hair pole Nathan knew about where biologists collect hair samples.

  6. Lost mine. j/k, looks like someone lost theirs unless it's a fake.

  7. I don't find him credible at all. I wouldn't trust him any more than a voice on an unsolicited sales call with a strong foreign accent. That said, I find the complete story very credible.

  8. I’m shocked that it is even being considered that someone had a cell phone conversation with BF. That is easily the most comical thing I’ve heard in 2021!

  9. Gosh, thank you. This is a great forum, one I've enjoyed immensely. I appreciate every member and poster. Keep on 'squatchin.'

  10. Mine is a Montana canvas wall tent. 14x17 with a 10 ft “porch”. I have several wood stoves including the one with a baking oven and water heater built into the fire box. I only take that when the Mrs comes along. Its the cadillac of tent camping.... The downside is finding a flat spot big enough to set it up. Ive thought about building a wood deck on the ranch for it and just throw it up for family or company like a cabin.

  11. Yeah, I know that feeling. I bought my Inreach after my daughter and I had to hike 11km (about 7 miles) at dusk in cougar country for help to get unstuck a couple of years ago. My Inreach, and about $1000 of other stuff, was stolen from my H3 last Saturday, so I replaced it with the new Zoleo yesterday. It's about $100 cheaper, and the subscription plans are very close in price and features.
