  3. Thank you sir. It is all water under the bridge as far as I am concerned. In all honesty, we don't know exactly what Bigfoot are. And we will never know until a type specimen or DNA sample is collected.

  4. Welcome to the club my friend. My anti-paranormalist rhetoric hasn't exactly earned me many upvotes myself. LOL

  7. I saw a Boker fixed blade that we had at the shop I worked at in the 80s, upon seeing one for sale, I instantly recalled its comfortable grip and nice lines. Price/condition were right. The plant alkaloids had more influence on the Puma White Hunter purchase. I didn't go all out for a Pumaster steel, found a NOS late model with 440C. We had those in the shop also, too rich for my blood back then. Beautiful knives, though surely not worth what people pay now days for the old ones...but I know, it's worth what people will pay.

  8. I haven't seen that one around. False edge on the spine? Looks purposeful, I like! I was perusing knives today while drinking a cuppa coffee and smoking a pipe. Caffeine and nicotine hit at the same time and I bought stuff under the influence. I'll post em when they show up.

  9. Cool, I think I got my first downvote for this one!! It's too bad they don't come with qualifiers cuz I'm stumped. But hey, thanks anyway.

  11. Thanks for the response! I agree that Paulides had a great presentation. I found his information the most interesting. I also like Charlie Raymond alot. He seems humble and came across as straight forward and no nonsense in his approach. We used the She Squatchers hour as a chance to slip out and get some lunch, so didn't see much of them except the last few minutes. From what I have read online about them, I just wasn't that interested. Morehead was also interesting except his presentation could have used a little polish maybe. He was kind of all over the place to me, including the late start and then just skipping through a lot at the end because he was running out of time. Huck and Wild Bill, they seemed to be there for entertainment purposed only. Not a lot of real info there just talking about their show. Huckleberry seemed pretty chill but Bill was just trying too hard. I guess that is his shtick. He actually got on my nerves after a while.

  12. I'd prefer not to! I'm gonna dig out my camping espresso maker or experiment with adding coffee to coffee filters and tying them closed so they're like a tea bag, but with coffee. Or just do cowboy coffee and maybe filter it - lay a bandana or filter in first, add boiling water and then pull out the bandana/filter. Coffee is too important to mess it up, LOL. I'd only drink instant if it was an emergency OR I felt a migraine hovering. Then, I'll do anything to avoid that! And if I'm car camping? Full on french press. Only way to go.

  13. We went. I have seen Paulides give his presentation a few times before, but this was the best one that I have seen to date. Lots of little clues dropped as to what he thinks is behind the phenomenon. Ron Morehead was interesting as well. I am glad that I got a chance to see him speak. I found Charlie Raymond to be very interesting, and some of the photos that he shared were intriguing. I gave the She Squatchers a chance, but left after a few minutes. I only saw a couple of minutes of the Mountain Monsters talk. It looked like they were sticking to the line that the show is unscripted. Matt Pruitt was a great MC and is obviously a very knowledgeable gentleman. I didn’t enjoy his panel discussion participation as much, but he did a fine job as a master of ceremonies.

  14. Well, that would certainly explain the samurai-like chatter that some people have reported:} As to the OP, got to give him credit as he sure nailed his display name. Happy travels to him.

  16. Got back a little while ago from a hike and bushwhack. Went to a location, near a small pond, where I found a large print last October. Almost no reason for anyone to be in this area. I decided to press further and head toward a larger pond reasonably nearby so I bushwhacked to it. At first, it presented itself as small pond with lots of vegetation. The further I went, the more it opened up. I was jawstruck when I finally was able to stand near pondside and see it. Wow---absolutely beautiful. As fate would have it, the property is privately owned although there were no posted or no trespassing signs in the area as I made my way there. I think this area has a lot of potential. Private and no outsiders (like me). I'm going to find out who owns it and make a pitch to be able to spend more time there. We'll see.

  17. I happen to have an interest in all matters related to Jack The Ripper. Exactly who was the most famous mass murderer of all times? There is a forum where exceedingly knowledgable people post questions, or information, and others, similarly endowed, provide answers or opinions---much like here. Were I to go on the Ripper website and, right from the start, make claims that I had thousands of pages of Ripper documents and photographs, I would be met with a healthy bit of skepticism. Those claims are received much differently from someone who has presented himself/herself and has become known to those similarly-minded people on the forum. For those who may remember, in the 1980s there was an EF Hutton TV commercial telling folks they did it the old fashion way. They earned your trust. So it is with many aspects of life. In my opinion, the bigger the claim, the more responsibility one bears especially when you haven't introduced yourself to your fellow readers. Who doesn't wish to be courted before being asked?

  18. Each of these projects has a specific focus to identify whatever the project wants. I worked on counting elephants on the African Savannah and was amazed at how hard it was to see them! Yes, elephants can be hidden. I tried to work on a project counting either cats or monkeys in African jungles too, but I realized I'm not that good at distinguishing foreign animals in the wild. I worked on a project counting birds of prey to identify the presence or lack thereof of California condors. In that project, carcasses were camera trapped to lure birds of prey. I worked on a project to identify road crossings at specific locations in Colorado to identify trails where overpasses were used to allow animals to cross without getting hit by vehicles. Another project I worked on was counting penguins. That was one of the projects where I think the images were from satellite. Each of those projects were monitoring for specific information and the cams were set up in special locations. I also worked extensively on general animal and specific bird identification across a wide range of locales in 2 different states. Those projects tried to get as many cameras monitored across the state as possible. In these cases, individuals are setting up the cameras and retrieving the cards about every 3 months. Many of them were placed in and around individual homes and not real deep in the woods in most cases. Others were placed within national and state forests. The purpose of these monitoring projects was to obtain population counts, breeding habits, nocturnal animal information and general habitat/welfare info. So, the use of satellite is appropriate when you're trying to obtain information such as numbers of penguins in the arctic or on an island, or large species in a segment of the ocean (whales, dolphins, etc.) and that's probably how it is being used. I doubt the use of satellite in heavily forested areas where you're trying to identify something under the canopy. As a project, I don't personally think it's effective to have 100 individuals spread out all over North America to have cams monitoring for Sasquatch. It would be more beneficial to have 100+ cams around an area of frequent sightings left out with collection every 3 months. Think at the county level. The cams have to be set up to take 3 shots with minimal time between so you catch movement. I think it would be doable to set the cams up around water sources because while we may not know a whole lot definitively about Sasquatch, we do know regardless of anything else it has to drink water.

  21. Greetings, I am a high school teacher living in Tennessee, and I have been interested in the Sasquatch phenomenon since 2008 after viewing an episode of MonsterQuest. It was the episode in which DNA evidence was collected which revealed it to be from an unknown species of primate. I have been intrigued with the subject ever since. My fiance and I are in fact planning a camping trip to the Cascade Mountains in the hopes of finding the creature.

  22. Very interesting. I have always wondered if there is some sort of connection between the Sasquatch and the discovery of giant humanoid bones during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The North American Indians had legends of Sasquatch type creatures and a race of giant men and the stories do have several similarities. For one thing, both the hairy Sasquatch like giants and the giant men were described as cannibals. Both had hostile encounters with the native tribes. Several Indian legends claim the continent was inhabited by a civilized race of giants before they arrived. If Sasquatch are a type of hominid, then perhaps they were the ones responsible for the ancient burial mounds and left behind the remains of giant humanoid skeletons. If this is true however, the Sasquatch has certainly gone through a considerable process of de-evolution as they have not to my knowledge even been reported to use even stone age level of technology with the exception of clubs in a few reports. Though apes have been known to use blunt objects as weapons also. Still, I find it statistically unlikely that North America contained two unrelated types of humanoid giants. So I feel if the stories of human giants are true then there most likely is some sort of a connection. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this matter?

  23. I suppose the only way to know for certain would be to examine the giant skeletons first hand. Which would prove difficult since nobody in recent memory has been able to locate them. There was a documentary series a few years back where these two researchers attempted to track down the alleged giant remains. But the search proved to hit a dead end. The best thing to do in my opinion, would be for an expedition to actively search for Sasquatch remains in known habitat. This is much easier said than done however, since the environment in which the creature is reported isn't exactly suitable for the long term preservation of biological remains. The soil of the Pacific Northwest is extremely acidic. Still, it is possible that an expedition may turn something up. Animals when they are sick and dying tend to hole up in difficult to access areas. Perhaps that would be a good place to start.

  24. That would be the Holy trail of Bigfoot research and the best result short of a fully intact body. I've been a Sasquatch enthusiast and am armchair researcher since 2008. I am just now starting to become active in the field. The wife and I are planning an outing up in Maine for that very reason this Summer. We will see what we turn up.

  25. I would certainly like to. If I am still in Tennessee at the time I will. I am moving to Michigan later this Summer. But this would be a wonderful opportunity. How about yourself?

  26. Basically, Lapseritis was a charlatan who claimed to simultaneously have telepathic contact with Sasquatch and ET. I mentioned the honorable Dahinden's reaction to Lapseritis being allowed to present at a Bigfoot conference as an example of how the Bigfoot Community should deal with peddlers of woo infiltrating our ranks.
