IMO, rooftop tents are a tad overkill, not that I haven't considered them mind you:) I get the original need--Africa with its handy predators but 100-150lbs up top doesn't make for a stable ride, set up is obviously limited to where you can get the rig and therein lies part of the problem I've been seeing in the desert--idiots who just spent $1500-$3500 on their RTT want rimside camping so they just drive over the microbiotic crust and all else to get there--- and the next idiot follows the tracks. I could see how they'd be great for extended cross country road tripping, especially once into the W with all of it's public land. I suppose one could pop it in a rest stop in the E without too much hassle from the law? Blah blah. Nice new rig you have in the works there NW! Best of luck with it.
I'll second G's suggestion of a hi-lift, lift mate and add the Off Road kit/winch The latter only gets you as far as the length of the bar, but with just the 4' version that's often all one needs to get out of the pickle. https://hi-lift.com/accessories/off-road-kit/
I work in the off-road industry and work on Jeep Wranglers, Gladiators and even the new Ford Bronco almost everyday, so if you have any specific Qs, post up. I'll help the best I can.
I've been practicing using a Barred Owl Caller. It's not intended to replace a speaker but it can produce some volume especially while doing a caterwauling. I will be using it on several different ponds so the water will help the sound travel farther.
The expectation isn't to catch a sasquatch's ear a mile away. It is to produce a noise that a sasquatch reasonably close by would be familiar with but recognize is different from other ones its heard. Hopefully, it wants to satisfy its curiousity about what exactly why it is different. Just ordered a crow caller which can be fairly loud.
Neither are the be-all, end-all but they'll give me something to do in camp while I'm intently listening for night-time sounds.
Here is an example of how it should be done from Carl Drake a champion owl caller:

This is what caterwauling sounds like from real barred owls:
That's because you don't want it grounded to anything. Just like the "bug-out bags" and faraday boxes and bags used by those in the "prepper" movement who fear the possibility of an EMP knocking out all electronics, those bags/boxes are intended to simply keep any stray or intended EM waveform from permeating and damaging the equipment. In the case of the HECS it's intended to keep the body's EM signature masked, or contained within the suit.
@BC witness The spot I got to, the road ended at a very large clear-cut area near the top of a ridge. It had been recently worked as there were still tracks in the road from the equipment. I slept in the truck, as the ground was still muddy from recent rains, and cooked smokies on a campfire for my Thanksgiving dinner. It got really cloudy and foggy overnight, but no snow fell, which was too bad because something paid a visit while I was asleep. I was on a gravelled spot, so no tracks that I could see.
Thx, Marty. 8 )
I mentioned "our average, scientifically confirmed bigfoot" because, in my opinion, the research and the evidence (notwithstanding, the video above) precludes any possibility that such animals do not exist. There is no way to reconcile the idea that every, single 'Bigfoot' report is due to insanity, lies, or misidentification. And, since all it takes for Bigfoot to exist is one valid report, there we have it.
