  1. Not a lot of times I agree with your position, but you nailed this one!

  2. VA, you and I were on the same wave length on the 16th. I had an idea so I pm'd treeman on that same day. treeman, hopefully something will work out for you in December; ideally somewhere around Christ's 40 Acres since large tracks have been found there.

  3. You can put the 35s on with the mods I spoke of, you're going to have to do them anyway, unless Jeep has addressed those issues...I did and it actually looked very cool and performed well, just don't go all crazy wheeling till you lift it. Go with a complete engineered kit, from one manufacturer, depending on how much lift you're going with, things can get really expensive in regards to other mods that should be done to account for the lift, different drive shafts, exhaust clearance issues......it never ends. My lift was only a 2.5" kit but with the tires, it netted an almost 6" increase overall, the lift kit alone was closer to 4". My build was more of a rock crawler build, so low center of gravity and high articulation is what I was shooting for. One thing that you rarely hear discussed on the Jeep forums, is some unsettling things happen from an aerodynamic point of view when you lift a vehicle that is basically a brick to being with. There seems to be some weird air packing issues in the front at certain times, I've always believed that this is some of the reason for the death wobble issues, though most of that was related to bolt issues that the factory would not own up too. My Jeep never had death wobble, but you could definitely feel the front end unweight at certain times, but this could be because of the compliant spring and shock package for the rock crawler set up. Funny that you're headed in the Jeep direction and I'm headed back to a truck, currently building a F250 Overland/Apocalypse rig, if I can help in anyway just let me know, building them is half the fun!

  8. I did a cold air intake on my 2012 it made a difference, more in response and helped a little with MPG. Never had the HP checked. Nothing in regards to sound that I remember, but if you change exhaust prepare to be disappointed, there's no making the V6 sound better. I did away with the rear muffler entirely, and just had a straight down pipe under the cab (tiny muffler) and would change to straight pipe out the back for inspections.

  9. Okay, zero, not for the overnight temp, but for my trackway. But man, was it ever gorgeous out there

  10. Not in the context I'm thinking. I don't consider the UFO "whistleblowers" to be any more satisfactory than the bigfoot "whistleblowers". Neither provides documentation that would stand up in court ... or in a science lab. That's different than .. the example I had in mind was Wikileaks / Julian Asange. Manning provided real evidence that was substantial and verifiable. Nobody has come close with UFOs or bigfoot yet it should actually be easier if that information is at least partially in academic hands .. enough so to somehow require their silence. MIB

  11. That's pretty slick, but as a side / belly sleeper, I don't think it would work for me. And I'd never be able to get my dogs in it!

  12. OK - This looks awesome, so I ordered one with a Black Friday discount. Also ordered a Hilift jack and lift mate per @Gigantor's suggestion. @Madison5716 and I were out yesterday scouting out a lead we got from a firsthand class - A sighting. Really scary mountain in her little Rav. We followed a ridge for a few miles. Steep as heck on both sides with several hundred feet drop on one side and about a thousand on the other. Really narrow road. Now, if the darned truck would just come in! It's been 7 weeks exactly now. Dealer said hopefully by Christmas.

  13. Very unique and the first hammock I've seen designed around a wood stove. Lots of room within the hammock area. It would be perfect for car/snowmobile/ATV camping. I do like the options they offer for wood stoves.

  14. Agreed. I will continue to flog the horse's corpse. There can be no coverup. It isn't possible given human nature, given the timelines involved, given the sheer number of people who would have to somehow be subverted, and given sheer human orneriness. This is not bullying a handful of people, this requires gagging tens of thousands ... natural resources professionals, private, county, state, federal, and international, plus thousands of biology faculty across multiple nations. And not a single whistleblower. They can steal military secrets, politically damning information, patents, etc but somehow bigfoot is espionage-proof, whistleblower-proof, etc? The suggestion is utterly ridiculous. I don't know what the right answer is, but I'm dead certain that ain't it. MIB

  16. That K5 is awesome! Came really close to buying one identical to it in the Tri-Cities a couple of years ago for $8k. Was looking for a nice K5, Bronco, or Ramcharger. Ended up just buying the new 4Runner to make life less dramatic, but will always love the 2dr full-size SUVs from the 80's and 90's. Still no snow over here. Got in a new woods carry pistol and took it to the gravel pit outside of town and had some fun... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_W5mrKBwus

  17. Good luck with that one. The universal problem that the vendors don't like to deal with is the insane condensation inside. All your stuff will get gooey. You need to figure out a tent heater and ventilation. I have seen solar panels powering a marine grade ventilation fan. A very expensive set up on a hard top tent. Diesel powered vehicles can utilize a 'parking heater'. You have to get the hot air up into the tent. Don't even think about bringing a propane heater into the tent. The temperature related condensation has a basic relationship with the weather. If the dew point is above the expected low temp., you are screwed. If the dew point is below the expected low temp., you might be OK. Maybe yes, maybe no. Location is a factor. Being in the mountains and a clear cut environment will have very cold wet air coming down on you during nighttime. Being in a thick stand of big wood is nice because the relative humidity is lower than open areas, feels warmer and condensation may not show which is good for microphones and cameras. Tepui tent was purchased by the Swedish rack firm Thule. Of course they modified some designs and raised prices. Buyer beware. There is the tent price, mounting rack and a plethora of accessories that you are supposed to buy.
