Merry Christmas to one and all. Even Scrooge has turned kinder, caring about others. We all can do it!
Here’s a pic I used for my Christmas cards—the tranquility of the Charles River outside Boston.
1956. It’s my father in laws D4 7U. I’ve inherited it with the place. My Dad had one too but it had a gas pony motor which was a giant pain.
The primary clutch is going on it. And you can’t go to the CAT store to buy parts. Just trying to get one last winter out of it.
Dad still owns a 69’ D4. Runs like a champ but the impellers are shot in the water pump so it can only run about 45 mins before it’s hot. Still gets used on my great uncles farm though. Not worth trying to repair given how little it is needed.
Well, you know what they say, it ain't the age, it's the mileage, or in your D4 7U's case both: Age and hours. I figured it to be somewhere around the 1970's but '56 puts that baby at 65 years old. A real tribute to its class.
Amazing snow, @norseman! I"m just a little jealous. The last time it snowed here was around 4 years ago. Beautiful and you're prepared for it, which is the winning ticket.
Merry Christmas and happy everything else, too! You all are a special group of crazy people that I enjoy hanging with and I wish you all good things in 2022. You've taught me so much and encouraged me so well. Thank you.
Major Newton and Commander Santos from the auxiliary police force, huh?
Maybe Doug Dannger can cover the story for the local news and afterwards you can all go to Ted Bell’s restaurant for dinner. Have a couple of Teds and some foil wrapped baked potatoes. He invented those, you know?
Snow is starting to pile up.
Bullwinkle was home today. Turkeys too. And also 3 whitetail does that didn’t want their picture taken.
Fingers crossed I have some good camera trap photos.🤔
Yes, cmknight, I read all of the FSR reports that were released; many of the roads I often travel are still severely damaged, and won't be repaired until the resource users need them again. I still feel squeezed out of large parts of "my" area, but I can at least get a little mud or snow on the tires now. :-)
