She is 4 months old. On baby sitting duty today. She likes to play patty cake with her feet. I was struck by how splayed her toes are. Not trying to say my grand daughter has Gorilla feet. But she hasn't been saddled with boots and shoes yet. It was hard to photo, but she can splay her toes almost as much as her hand. Its impressive.1 point

They did have photos up on the internet for a while as did Barackman on his website but everyone has since taken them down so the internet no longer has any photos of the original find to look at. I did dig back a bit here on the BFF and found a couple from 2017. There are probably others here and there if someone wishes to look for them. The second image is a group looking through a piece cut out of one of the original nests for evidence like hair and such:1 point

I think, from Legend Meets Science, it's east of Walla Walla. I might be wrong about that.1 point

So, as someone who works in the forest, there have been times we have tried to remove things from the forest for museums. Be it fossils, large old growth tree cookies, black bear nests in trees, eagles nests the list goes on... Its incredibly hard to maintain a structures integrity and move it at the same time, add moving it miles through over grown understory makes it that much harder. As for the nests the base layer was likely so worn and degraded from weight and wallowing around that they would likely fall apart as soon as they were lifted and moved.1 point

Oh I’d love to see the real thing too, but sometimes that’s not best.1 point

I hear you. There is a fine line between education and exploitation. But, scientific examination, field expeditions, and other research doesn't come cheap. If good intentions could fund research, we'd have it made. But we all know it takes cash. And to get that cash, you do have to sensationalize things a bit and get people interested enough to keep the funds coming in. It's our job to be selective in our choices of who we support and what we purchase and hopefully that will help separate the exploitative chaff from the legitimate wheat.1 point

I understand your concern hiflier. But skeptics, non-believers, and nay sayers in general are going to pee in your punchbowl no matter what anyway. So, why worry? Its like saying we shouldn't mention dermal ridges and mid-tarsal breaks as now anyone can make better hoax tracks or talk about pitch modulations in howls as it will make those easier to fake with a computer. Every bit of evidence is can be derided and arguement made its phony. But if we keep important details and new discoveries hidden for fear of that risk, no one learns anything and the next generation of Bigfoot enthusiasts will be hampered. My two cents.1 point

It really is a great movie. I will have to watch Willow Creek. I have seen Big Legend. It is a fun movie. We tend to watch it as a family when we are at camp. That's very cool!1 point

Fascinating how we see reports from over a century ago with similar details (almost identical) to what we report now. Putting ourselves in these peoples' shoes, what did they have to gain by "hoaxing" this? Word traveled so slow in those days, mostly by newspaper and word of mouth, so there was no instant gratification going on; unlike today where a hoax can go viral in a matter of hours if tagged correctly.1 point

That's quite the collection. How did you find the three-part series on Wood Knocks by David Weatherly? Worth getting?1 point

https://www.strangeoutdoors.com/questions-answers/tag/NPS+disappearance+information Article regarding lack of accessible information about missing persons in national parks/forests/recreation areas. There is a link to a petition to change that in the article. For what it’s worth I signed it.1 point

Hi! I’ve been interested in Sasquatch and other “cryptids” for about 4/5 years now. I live in an area surrounded by forest/woods, and I live 5-30 minutes from multiple state parks (forest). I also have many cranberry bogs and blueberry fields close by, and multiple bodies of water. I have had some strange encounters exploring the forests in my area, including seeing a large dark figure and hearing screams/yells of unknown animals that were terrifying enough to make a group of adults run to our trucks and hightail it out of the area. At the time when I had these experiences, I had no idea what it could be as I had not looked into Sasquatch or cryptids yet. To this day, I’m still not sure what it could be. About 4/5 years ago I came across David Paulides/missing 411 and Sasquatch Chronicles around the same time while searching for others who have experienced strange encounters in the woods. After some research, I found out there have been multiple disappearances and Bigfoot sightings not far from my home. (I am NOT connecting missing 411 and Sasquatch together because I don’t believe Bigfoot is responsible for all of these strange disappearances, but that is a chat for another time on another forum). I am very interested interested in reading about others’ encounters, thoughts, and beliefs about Sasquatch which is why I signed up for membership on this forum. I’m not a big talker but instead I prefer to listen (read) and soak it all in so that I can come to a conclusion. Im still not sure what Sasquatch is, but there have been too many sightings to deny that SOMETHING is going on.1 point

Hey all! IronJohnFlint here. Long time Bigfoot believer, although I have never seen one. With all the reports and data out there one has to think they are real. I recently purchased ThinkerThunker's book and the section on audio spectrograms really got me to thinking. Audio is probably the best piece of evidence on Bigfoot. I currently use SonicVisualiser and Audacity to display spectrograms. I am currently looking for some downloadable Bigfoot sounds.1 point
