  1. I just got a few of these little flashlights... https://www.amazon.com/WAYLLSHINE-Flashlight-Astronomy-Aviation-Observation/dp/B07C5W13NP/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=red+wayllshine+Handheld+Flashlights&qid=1648041781&s=hardware&sr=1-7 They are not throwers by any means, but I want to try them out and see how they do so I don't kill my night vision with the white ones I have when I am fumbling around with gear and maps and things. I'm going to give them a go and if there is any value to them for their intended purpose, I will report back and let you all know how they work out. They are cheap enough so if I lose one or they don't work, it's no big deal. I was having trouble with the thermal imager just killing my night vision in my one eye, so I have switched it to a red palate and so far, so much better. Anyone else use red lights in the field?

  2. Not looking for a red thrower at this time, but the price is good! Thanks!

  3. I did a horrible job video taping it, because in my mind, it was just another nest, I'm convinced that is what it is, but I forgot that any viewers would want to see more detail. Anyways, I'll be back there this weekend, weather permitting, and fully documenting.

  4. We carry both white and red flashlights, as well as headlamps that have both options. Like you, the thermal and night vision wrecks havoc on your eyesight. I have used the red palette a bit, but the definition seems to be lacking compared to other palettes.

  6. Hi. New to this forum as a contributing member, but have been lurking for some time. Looking forward to exploring the forum.

  7. I think I see what you are seeing. Basically there is a mat of pine limbs on the ground that would have been above the the snow that is not present in the rest of the woods. Is that why you think it is a BF nest? The reality is it is impossible to prove or dis-prove that this is a real BF nests. Odds are frankly against it primarily due to the fact that BF, if they exist, are exceeding rare, their nest are even rarer and weird tree formation caused by nature are a dime a dozen and it is very very hard to determine the difference. That does not mean you have not found one, just that the odds are stacked against you. Your video was a pain to watch and I recommend if you see these again to simply take hi-def pictures to tell the story with annotations. My primary concern with your area is the deadfall and bent limbs look to me to be most likely caused by the weight of snow over the winter that recently melted away. I would be more convinced if you were able to show prints (Foot, hand, and/or body) in the area, limbs deliberately woven together to hold in place, limbs deliberately stacked in a manner that would be close to impossible via natural causes, and better cover over the nest. I have run across 2-3 potential nest over the last 2 decades and never was able to get a photo or video that did them justice. Here is one from last fall which I am sure will not look like a nest to anybody here. But what is not captured well is that it is a tight leanto that was built off of a recently fallen tree, many of the branches had to be deliberately stacked by something with hands, and there is a perfect pocket inside of it with a leafy floor. Also, I found the nest following a path of bent trees with the last one being quite impressive and looks to be created by someone/thing of immense size and strength. This story is probably worth its own thread if I ever get motivated enough to put it together. My 2 cents and happy hunting. Remember, it is getting out in the woods and experiencing nature that is the real fun. PS - Not sure if @Wolfjewel is still active but I think you to are neighbors.

  8. Hey NW, like your 'the changing of the guard' comment, that's exactly what it is:) As a long time woods guy, and nature freak, which includes a lil 'Bigfoolery' (that's a joke, haha), what the heck is this Dogman? i haven't seen one, but have heard weird sounds, strange tracks, and heard stories from others. A lot of you guys are out there, what have you seen, heard, and your opinion?

  9. For what its worth? Here is a recreation of the Olympic project nest. To me it looks like a giant birds nest.

  10. With all due respect for a fellow searcher, it's really, really hard to tell anything. I only watched half of the first video because I was getting vertigo from the camera moving around so much. I'm sorry. What I saw was some branches down, and some limbs that could have naturally fallen. If I may, I suggest that you slow down and clearly show what you think is a nest, and why. Perhaps lay a measuring tape next to it so your viewers have an idea of scale. Also, look for hairs. I did see some evidence of chainsaw meaning you are not the only human to have been there. That's my $.02, and I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but you did ask. Good luck with your search.

  11. That was my account and my partner. Thus, any comments regarding that can be directed to me… pretty or otherwise. I don’t understand the perceived venom of your statement here. In so many words, you are calling the efforts of those of us who are actively out in the field juvenile, while stating that a letter writing campaign would be a more worthwhile expenditure of our time. I don’t want someone else to tell me about these creatures, whether they are involved with the government or pushing their own narrative. I want to experience the phenomenon myself in whatever limited capacity that I can. I want to compile my own data, compare it with others who I trust, and make my own determinations. Respectfully… I don’t care what the government has to say about the topic, so seeking information from them does not appeal to me. I wouldn’t trust anything that they had to say regarding the phenomenon, so why attempt to obtain any statement? The only statements that I would find believable would be off the record comments from the rank and file…like I just got from a Forest Service LEO on the phone 20 minutes ago. And while that’s believable to me… it’s just as much ‘evidence’ as my account of possibly being charged. Another anecdotal account on the internet that a rational person might file away for future comparison…but, shouldn’t accept as unverified fact. However, if you choose to do write letters and call offices, I don’t begrudge you your efforts and I wish you the best of luck. I will be the first to congratulate you if you have any concrete success. I won’t denigrate your efforts or intentions, even if they are not my first choice.

  12. Most of my chats with government types were outside the office and hushed. I was never laughed at and they answered my questions, but I got the impression the answers given would be different if I'd went to their office.
