  1. Those flares are made of phosphorous........like the Willie-Pete grenades the military uses in warfare. It will even burn underwater. If it hits a bear, it will stick to its fur and burn. The bear runs off for cover and sets the woods on fire. After the authorities put out the forest fire, they try to throw you in prison for not using spray, or even a gun. Alaska? Nope. https://craigmedred.news/2018/07/19/dangerous-bear-2/ Alaskans have recently run out of patience for predatory bears.

  2. Probably if rogue Sasquatch hunt humans with any regularity then there would be at least one case of it picked the wrong guy/gal to attack and there would be a deceased Specimen to examine. I don't know except that we are still considered to be the most dangerous animal right? I'm not saying that hikers never vanish (they do). It just seems that interacting with people, ever, would be a great way for them to be classified and/or to be made extinct.

  3. https://www.bfro.net/news/arizona_cave.asp According to the witnesses the cave wasn't naturally formed but made and was a good observation point for multiple elk routes.

  4. There was a big fire over in the "range" country in Eastern Oregon some years back. They were having trouble with the fire spreading when burning jackrabbits (and coyotes) would run across the fire lines into the grass and brush on the other side. They brought in some shooters to travel with the fire crews to shoot the burning critters before they could get across the line. I think I'd like that job.

  5. Ray my fellow researcher, said they stumbled into a large camoflauged tunnel entrance that was half way up a steep hill along a forested ravine in southwest Oregon. It probably had a trickling stream to help get rid of excavated dirt. On the way up the ravine, they discovered the stick covered entrance. The deep tunnel bottom went out of view. While Ray was looking up hill, past the tunnel and stick cover, he was horrified when he saw an angry huge bigfoot peeking around a tall fir tree. The head was massive and fur covered with glaring eyes. He told his friend, and they both headed back down the ravine and heard the bigfoot in close pursuit. If a bigfoot family has no caves or mines to spend freezing winters since there are none around, what is BF supposed to do? Can two clans live in one cave, mine or earthen den network? We simply can't study bigfoot to know the answers but rare obversations of tunnel building by others like Ray can lead to a fact. Seems like if one bigfoot family makes tunnels like the one Ray found then others do to if there are no mines or caves.

  6. In addition to other gear in my Argo, I carry one of the pictured flare guns with a small Pelican waterproof case containing several flares. I carry it in the rig for signaling purposes, but I note that Larry Kaniut found in his reasearch of Alaskan bear attacks that in all three cases he found where a oerson shot a bear with a flare gun in defense during a bear attack, it stopped the attack with no injury to the person. I guess even with bears, being on fire appears to consume ones attention......... https://www.amazon.com/Alaska-Bear-Tales-Larry-Kaniut-ebook/dp/B018D2H2IE?nodl=1

  7. I wanna bash my head into the keyboard when people are eaten and the media is looking at the possibility the victims did something wrong. Yes they did something wrong…..they didn’t fill the son of a gun full of holes! I would rather be arrested and my pickup confiscated than to be eaten by a Bear feet first…. Egads. Chances are? They will destroy the Bear anyhow. A lot of good that will do the couple. But at least the government can say “Because humans are stupid we had to destroy the Bear”. Which they like better than people taking the law into their own hands to save their own lives. It makes me sick….
