  1. There is a YouTuber who goes out in the field in Colorado and comes back with some pretty amazing tree structures. I've not seen him mentioned here so I wanted to see if anyone else has seen his content. He gets in to the parabigfoot stuff quite a bit, so you've been warned.

  2. The latest installment of Small Town Monsters had a quick mention of a guy using a dog whistle while out in the field. The frequency of most dog whistles is within the range of 23 to 54 kHz, so they are above the range of human hearing. I did a quick lazy man search online to see if there is any focused research using this technique and didn't see anything about it. Any insights? Its an interesting concept and makes me wonder about making sounds both above and below our hearing range as a way to get interaction.

  3. I am back up and running. Happy Spring! Everything is bright green. Snow is now on the mountain tops. A little buck came in with velvet!

  4. https://nature-mentor.com/chickadee-calls/ I had a dog that I taught American sign language. She understood dozens of signs, but didn't have the capability to 'speak' the language because ASL requires hands. But Koko the gorilla learned ASL, both receptively and expressively. She had a vocabulary of over 1,000 signs and could understand around 2,000 words of spoken English. Her sign vocabulary included basic signs like "food" and "drink", emotional signs like "sad" and "love", and more complex signs like "obnoxious" and "polite". Koko was also able to combine signs to create new meanings, such as calling a ring a "finger bracelet" and a mask an "eye hat".
