  1. @Backdoc Great questions, and it's not unusual for folks in this community to be confused about issues of DNA. For one, most of the info floating around the BF community is misinformation (most of it hopefully unintentionally so). It is also difficult for folks to understand (without actually knowing about DNA methods) why scientists can do some almost "magical" things with DNA in some areas and yet other areas of knowledge are not yet well fleshed out at all. I check in on the BFF only every few months to see what folks are asking/posting that's DNA-related. Not bragging, but stating a fact: I am the only one leading credible DNA study of potential Sasquatch samples: https://sites.google.com/ncsu.edu/darbyorcutt/ Please LMK what questions you may have, as I'm sure others have the same ones. Cliff Barackman wants me to come back on his podcast soon, and I want to address the things that things that folks in the BF community are wondering about. The *brief* answers to your questions are: 1) There has been very little credible testing of potential BF DNA, period. Cliff mentioned my work on tracking down prior testing during his last Q&A podcast. Most "results" are rumors, misunderstandings, or made-for-TV fictions or spin. 2) Yes, if Bigfoot is indeed an unknown species, we'd absolutely be able to tell that if we were presented with BF DNA samples. That said, depending on what a potential such species actually were, it might require a qualified team actually really looking for such to find it (which is one of the reasons I started this project). 3) Environmental DNA (eDNA) techniques are extremely powerful for looking for *known* DNA sequences, which is why the almost magical examples that you mention (Covid detection in wastewater, Grizzly detection in the wild). Generally speaking, eDNA is an exceedingly much harder path towards discovery of new species. Darby Orcutt NC State University

  2. "Urban" Bigfoot. Yep, they are serious about it. We have to start defining things in a way that makes sense to even decide if the Urban Bigfoot concept makes sense. If we think of Urban, we might think: -Big City -Lots of people -Lots of cameras -Civilized -Very few if any 'wild' animals to be expected -Lots of noise -Lots of lights Normally we think of Bigfoot in the remote area such as the woods of the PNW and places where the nearest town is miles away. Even then, those towns are usually small towns with 2 streetlights and one gas station in the middle of the mountains. I would doubt any report of Bigfoot in downtown Chicago or Times Square NY. I have more faith in a report in some town that bordered miles and miles of remote woods, or Forrest. That is what we think of as bigfoot country. I have no doubt as mankind encroaches on nature through urban sprawl one might see a mountain lion or something at the edge of town. After all, 20 years before that area might not have been developed for miles. Development does take time and developers makes noise. Bigfoot is thought to be shy. A shy animal might be expected to flee to deeper woods and get away. We know Bears come into town and get into the trash cans. We know Deer will walk right down the street here in my town in Iowa. Even then, I don't use this fact to expect a zebra will walk down my street and certainly not a Dodo bird. If there is a bump in the night, 99.999999999999999999999999999% of the time it is something 'normal' Yes, it could be a prowler. "Did lock your car? Did your lock your doors?" But even if it was a prowler, what are the odds it is bigfoot. If the town is Omaha NE its less likely to be Bigfoot vs a house on the edge of a small town of 200 people near the deep woods of the PNW. I hate to say it but I think sometimes those who jump to the conclusion Bigfoot was there are needing Bigfoot to be there. We all know as reasonable people unless the town is in a remote area the chances of an encounter in town with any shy animal is remote. This would esp be true with Bigfoot.

  3. That only works with Brown Bears that are fat on Salmon. Don’t ever lay down and play dead with something intending to eat you. So like a Polar Bear or a Cougar. Or maybe even a Griz or a Black Bear. It’s a crap shoot. I have seen some Nordic people chase Grizzly bears and get away with it. I don’t know how their bears compare to ours but it’s not advisable IMO. Bigfoot supposedly will kidnap people. Thats in the Indian folklore and it’s also tongue in cheek in the 411 books. As well as American and Canadian folklore. So in Dr. Mayor’s case? It probably doesn’t matter what she does. If it wants to take her? What is stopping it? But if it’s not a cute little gal? If it’s a football player and threatening or a hunter? https://www.strangeoutdoors.com/mysterious-stories-blog/2017/10/22/bart-schleyer

  4. I'm hearing on social media via Tobe Johnson, Matt Moneymaker, and others that Henry Franzoni has passed.

  5. Henry was a champion of Bigfoot/Sasquatch and of the Columbia River Intertribal Fish community particularly the salmonids. He was always helpful in sharing and caring. I had the pleasure and was fortunate enough to dine and discuss with him in the western Columbia River area several times. He will be missed . He was very interested in the percussive elements of my research, having been a professional drummer. Deepest sympathies to his friends, family and widow. At a time when I could not financially support his publishing efforts, he sent me a pdf of his book gratis, telling you the kind of man he was.

  6. No apology necessary my friend . Everyone who's a member here wants to see the truth come out on these things . Or most everybody but I really think we have members who closely guard things they know . I mean the ones that put the time in going out to the forests searching .

  7. Yeah we are not Canada and no one should have to ask permission to the state to carry a firearm . Constitutional carry should not stop at some state borders . It should be through the entire 50 states . It's bull crap some communists states think they can limit the 2nd . What would happen if a few decided only one religion will be practiced in our state . First Amendment: Freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition Second Amendment: Right to bear arms Third Amendment: Restricts housing soldiers in private homes Fourth Amendment: Protects against unreasonable search and seizure Fifth Amendment: Protects against self-testimony, double jeopardy, self-incrimination, and due process Sixth Amendment: Right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury, to be informed of the charges, to confront witnesses, to compel testimony, and to legal representation Seventh Amendment: Right to a jury trial in federal courts for civil cases where the claim exceeds a certain dollar value Eighth Amendment: Prohibits excessive bail, excessive fines, and cruel and unusual punishments Ninth Amendment: States that listing specific rights in the Constitution does not mean that people do not have other rights that have not been spelled out Tenth Amendment: States that the Federal Government only has those powers delegated in the Constitution
