Bought a new expedition rig. I sorely missed my old 4Runner and the places I could go that my Tundra can't. I've always had a love/hate relationship with Jeep Wranglers. I hated how unreliable and expensive they were, but loved the looks and the driving experience.
I stopped by a Jeep dealer and found that they were doing massive incentives. I bought a 2024 Wrangler Sport S 4xE hybrid with 3.73 gears, HD Dana 44 axles, and 376hp for nearly $20k under MSRP.
I did a bunch of research before buying, and the 4xE was introduced in 2021 to mixed reviews. It has had a bunch of recalls and software issues. The range on the smaller battery is dismal, and the real world mpg is not very impressive. Mine is at around 27mpg. But, it came with the beefy axles, and when I mash the throttle, it will make you smile!
I had hoped that the majority of the teething issues would have been addressed three years later, but still opted for the Mopar 77-month total warranty.
I negotiated a dealer-installed Mopar 2" lift kit with Bilstein reservoir shocks and am waiting for it to arrive. I have 35" tires and new wheels waiting at Discount tire. New winch bumper and roof rack on the way, and new running boards already installed.
I can't wait to get it ready for the Idaho woods and Arizona deserts!
Being able to crawl through the woods at night in electric mode might be interesting.
