  1. What’s the difference? Bump in the night in the woods = Bigfoot Bump in the nights in a house = ghost Glimpse an unexpected shape in the mountains = Bigfoot Glimpse an unexpected shape in the sky = UFO Glimpse an unexpected shape in the water = lake monster The human mind fills in the blanks – the context determines how the anomalous experience is perceived/interpreted and that is largely determined by one’s culture. If more people think about ghosts and UFOs than Bigfoot and generally don’t venture to the woods/mountains then when anomalous events are experienced they are interpreted and reported as ghosts/UFOs more often than as Bigfoot. That is to be expected. It should be noted that some Bigfoot-enthusiasts also sometimes experience Bigfoot in their urban/suburban environments just as spirits are can be sometimes experienced in the woods by those so-inclined... If more people ventured out into the woods there would be more anomalous experiences interpreted and reported as Bigfoot yet the quality of the objective would remain the same as what we have now. Why? Because Bigfoot is a subjective culturally-defined experience (like ghosts and UFOs) rather than an objective biological reality...

  2. i dont "need" to believe in anything............I saw a bipedal trackway in deep snow. I'm sorry your track way was less compelling than mine. But please stop projecting your experiences onto me.

  3. Worse than that. He just dismissed Meldrums personal assessment of a footprint anomaly in another thread he created related to the P/G film. So he won't listen to someone that is a PHD specializing in bipedal locomotion about a footprint either. So he picks and chooses the scientists he will accept opinions from. Skeptical scientists he quotes and embraces. Those that support the evidence and suggest existence is possible, he dishes or ignores all the while clamoring that science is ignoring the topic because it does not exist. Not sure unbelievable even describes what is going on here. I am more inclined to label it sad.

  4. I'm not trying to be a smart-eleck Gum when I say "run that up a flag pole and see who salutes it". My point is, it is going to have to be proven BF actually exists before anything like that happens.

  5. Agreed Chele. I also spent a lot of time listening to Smeja's interviews and reading up on the story. All I can surmise is it's just another wild goose chase. Smeja has been consistant with his story and last I heard he was still involved in bigfooting. I believe he was with Bart when he recorded his thermal. That thermal is just as non-conclusive as Smeja's shooting story though. It was all just another trip down the rabbit hole in the end. I haven't heard anything from Bart since he pm'ed me his thermal. I hope this hasn't soured him or Tyler on BF.

  6. I don't buy it either. So I watched and read everything that came out on this story, looking for inconsistencies or something that would support my feeling that it was all hogwash... and I have yet to find anything that allows me to completely dismiss the whole idea that he is telling it how he thinks it happened. The fact that Bart Cutino and several others, who I think would have outed him as a hoaxer, had they found good reason, since they spent their own money on the labwork done on the steak... the fact that they believe the guy makes it that much more confusing.

  7. Inevitably, people who learn of my interest in this topic are always going to ask me about the latest Finding BF episode. Like many here, I'm sure, I'm forced to confess that I don't watch it. There was a time when I checked out an episode or two...I mean, how could you not? (DWA, you get forbearance points extraordinaire...me, my flesh is weak) It quickly became apparent that this the natural history equivalent of "Here Comes Honey [bobo]." Although I have to admit it was somewhat compelling to see how baked Bobo can be and still do his "job", as it were. I find that most, like our resident no-seeums, give way too much credence to stuff like this and it distorts their ability to be objective. Remember folks, just because it is on TeeVee don't make it more true, or even real at all, and we know it is usually just the opposite. FB is selling soap and that is all.
