  1. Congrats on knowing the truth. That is how I felt in high school. Grown ups just don't understand!

  2. I have a few rabbits that hang around in my yard day or night. I can get within a few feet of them without them running off. So they must not see me as a threat. The rabbits in my yard that do not look familiar are mostly around at night and day or night will run off when they see me. I cannot approach them. Not sure how all that relates to BF other than it points out that some animals who are not particularly intelligent can figure out what is a threat and what is not. Up the intelligence and the animal has to be able to read humans a lot better. I think BF can read us very well.

  3. Its part of the wonder of the human experience to sometimes perceive things in profound ways (eg a life-changing/mystical encounter). I’m certainly not implying that people who claim direct encounters with Bigfoot are “kooksâ€. I cannot help how you happen to perceive things but I am interested in it nonetheless – after all, you’ve seen/experienced Bigfoot (at least twice) and I haven’t. Strangely, it is you that dismiss people and their claims based on what you already “know†– isn’t that the “Powell Doctrine†in action (ie the very thing you accuse me of doing)? It's ok - I understand that it is easier to perceive the flaws of others than in oneself, offense is the best defense, etc, etc... I’m just looking for answers just like everyone else here. I’ll put forward my thoughts but they are not set in stone and which are as subjective as anything else within this entirely subjective phenomenon. I can’t learn without asking questions but I understand if you don’t want to answer so I again thank you for your time…

  4. Sure that's totally believable. The new CEO, no time to answer a silly question but plenty of time to write a whole block of text about the goings on of the new CEO and his 275k with stock options. I say it's all a bunch of nonsense to avoid answering the hard questions.

  5. Another analogy to the doggie do thing applies to seeing a BF too. If you don't have a dog and are only exposed to stepping in their stuff on a city sidewalk when an irresponsible pet owner does not pick it up, then you are probably right in that you might only step in it a couple of times in your life. But if you have a dog and a yard and every trip into the yard puts you at risk of stepping in it, then you are going to have several incidents a year even though as a pet owner you know how much is out there because you periodically go to pick it up. Similarly someone that rarely gets into the woods is not as likely to have a very rare BF sighting as someone who hunts and spends a lot of time in the woods every year.

  6. Come on just answer the question. It shouldnt be his homework to research your posts to discern what your answer to his questions might be. That's crazy. You could just not respond or link to a previous post that answers the question.

  7. Yet lots of people do claim see one when going out specifically looking for them yet no photos (other than blobsquatches and fakes – but let’s not go there). I have my camera ready when searching for the Yowie, doesn’t everyone else do the same? I believe that you believe you encountered Bigfoot. It accept that it must have been a significant and life-changing event for you but you must realize that your related experience is no more (or less) sincere and life-changing than many who believe they have also seen Bigfoot but it spoke to them telepathically, or it stepped through a dimensional portal, or onto a waiting spaceship… I mean no offense but I am blunt in this respect – if you do not question the absolute reality of your unusual experience then how can you reject someone else’s? Just because it doesn’t conform to what you already “know†about Bigfoot? Isn’t that something that should be associated with being “a successor to Powell If it took only one minute to search for, read, and cross-check each of your posts it would take me more than 2 full days of uninterrupted internet time – so, realistically, its not going to happen unless you can link me to specific threads/posts... However, I want to find answers, too, so are you willing to discuss your sighting with me via PM? Yet you want me to invest that amount of time on your behalf as if you are the first and only skeptic with whom I have ever debated this? And going back and reading the middle paragraph that you've written above, it appears that your own belief system would be an obstacle to the objective consideration of anything I have to say, even if you are polite about it. If you don't have enough respect for me to DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK, then I see no point in carrying on a dialogue with you, just to cover old ground. I don't have time for you unless you show me the respect of reading what I've already written in response to others who have asked the same questions in the past.

  8. The coverup would have occoured so long ago and whatever governing board runs the smithsonian would have turned over several times. If it was revealed today that the smithsonian had the skeletons of giants or Bigfoot the result would be dramatic increased interest in the institution including lots money. No one will be upset or scared by an old museum coverup of giants bones.

  9. Trogluddite, Not trying to hide, not furtive or stealthy, indifferent, daytime sightings, not shy; sounds like to me the data supports the idea that they choose when they will be seen. We can look at this another way. If all those things are true then we should be able to walk out into the woods in high sighting areas and find them just as can be done with other animals. But we all know that's not the case. But, that's just my opinion.

  10. Seems like you've got it all figured out. Of course you've never actually looked one in the eyes and you are so certain that you are right that you will not accept it if I tell you that I have. I don't see any point in going around and round with you. Over the last several years I've had this same discussion with at least eight people who have presented similar, if not identical arguments. You have a belief system. Nothing more, no matter how you may attempt to cast it.

  11. I'm sticking with the "needle in a haystack" theory - its not that they try to avoid humans, its just that there are so few of them that they are not encountered frequently.* And when they are encountered, there doesn't appear to be great effort on the part of witnesses to overcome the hiding skills of the "ninjas of the forest."TM I have 580 encounters where the witness(es) saw at least one bigfoot. Does bigfoot travel at night to avoid humans? Apparently not: Dawn - 24 Day - 198 Dusk - 34 Night - 160 The majority of encounters don't happen at night (although 48 of 184 nighttime encounters occurred between 2:00 AM and dawn). Do they make an effort to avoid humans? 300 of the witnesses saw a bigfoot that was simply "in transit," or going from point A to point B. No animals running from it, no animals following it, no humans stalking the bigfoot, no bigfoot stalking the humans. Rather than being furtive and stealthy, they appear to be indifferent to being seen. If Bigfoot were avoiding being seen, one would expect it to keep some distance from people, keeping a terrain feature between themselves and the potential witness, and keeping to concealment. That's not what most people report. Proximity (distance between witness & Bigfoot) 0 – 10 yards - 174 W/in 50 yards - 201 W/in 100 yards - 153 > 100 yards - 39 And Bigfoot definitely isn't shy about coming near human habitats - 52 (almost 10%) were seen w/in 25 yards of a building and a total of 141 were encountered w/in 25 yards of a road. * Excludes encounters by researchers in fixed research areas.

  12. It certainly didn't help his reputation by doing a phony Bigfoot show. Hope that well deserved money was worth it.

  13. I find conspiracy theories about government cover ups to be an area where bigfooters lose a lot of credibility. As soon as someone introduces a conspiracy theory to a topic, it's immediately eye roll inducing for me and I just cannot take the person seriously any longer. The bigfoot enthusiast community needs to lose things like the paranormal association and the penchant for conspiracy theories if there is a desire to be taken seriously by the mainstream.

  14. "Really, what government agency wants to have to deal with all of the consequences of proof that bigfoot exist?" What consequences would there be? I would think people within the government that deal with these issues would jump at the chance. It creates new research opportunity and more ability to put in regulations and such. Isn't that what they are there to do? I doubt the government would try to cover up a creature this large if it were truly as wide spread as reports would lead you to believe. Plus it would mean counting on Canada's government to participate in the coverup.

  15. ^^ I'm inclined to agree TWIST, however that approach discounts a very large number of reports. And well, we are all lectured daily that dismissing anecdotes is no way to get your Junior Scientist (self appointed) Badge. You don't want to fail Fake Science 101, do you?
