Guest
Maybe people put it in the tree as a joke, prank etc. This is not typical BF behavior, its either human or BF. And how do we know its 500 lbs? How long has it been there?

Redbone
Wiki page with image is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowwood_State_Forest I decided to play around with Google Earth and found very something interesting in Indiana: Latitude 39° 5'59.48"N Longitude 86°20'4.03"W I have attached an image from 2013 and also one from 2005. The shadow was there in 2013, but not in 2005. YES, I do realize a bush could grow in 8 years, but it would have to be a lone evergreen amongst regular deciduous trees. What do you think? (Edited - I added a pickup into the 2013 image from about the same altitude and elevation. The pickup would most likely have a 6 1/2 foot bed... That is a REALLY big shadow... too big. I think I debunked myself)_ Edited November 18, 2013 by Redbone
Guest
They are sandstone boulders, and weigh only about 200lbs. That is a whole new ballgame. With all those heavy branches it could somewhat easily be lifted into place by engineering students etc. They dissassemble whole VW bugs and assemble them in schools for pranks etc. Edited November 18, 2013 by Wag
AaronD
Looking at it from this angle I'm thinking the rock has been there long enough to influence the growth of the branches.

Lake County Bigfooot
Well moving right along to the Tree Octopus, a brilliant discussion to say the least. Perhaps we should test the boulder for DNA, any one know the shipping cost of a 5oo pound boulder to Oxford, wait maybe we should include the tree, keep it all in place for Sykes, let him decide what is worth testing... perhaps it will come back as a mix of Sasquatch, Polar Bear, with a hint of Tree Octo Neandertalis, Yah I am officially on squatch break- break. Guest
Its 200 lbs, so its very doable by humans, maybe even just one strong person, or not that strong. Pretty simple to get it up there.
AaronD
Tell ya what Wag, even back in my college days when I could out benchpress 90% of the NFL, I'd have had little trouble shouldering a 200 lb rock--BUT, climbing a tree with it would have been another matter! Guest
Well, I stated: With all those heavy branches it could somewhat easily be lifted into place by engineering students etc. They dissassemble whole VW bugs and assemble them in schools for pranks etc. But some 'good ol' boys' with some 'block and tackle rig' or even just one guy could do it easily. As stated, the branches shown would offer enough support for a 200lb rock. One person can use a simple pulley to raise the rock to the level, and then move it over and drop it in. Wouldn't be a cakewalk, but it could be done. Ok, but this may not be that: http://www.abduct.com/taylor/lt58.php It looks larger than 200lbs Edited November 19, 2013 by Wag
Guest
There were 3 trees, one 80 ft tall, another 45 ft tall. The large sandstone boulders were estimated to be 200 pounds.
Lake County Bigfooot
Squatch NFL no doubt about it, kicked it right into the crotch of that tree, that's 7 points right there, and add the other rocks that 21-0 FINAL Squatches 21- Ancient Polar Bears
Guest
If they are in 3 trees then it is deliberate, not a random event. There seems to be 3 choices: Human, Squatch, UFOs. I'm gonna still bet human. I know its a stretch, but what does the triangle, which seems to form an arrow, point toward? If anyone wants to research that... AaronD
My serious thoughts are that at one point the trees were either cut or had a natural flat area in the branch network suitable to place a rock. In time, with certain species of tree they would grow UP. Also, the branches will grow around the rock maiing it nearly impossible to remove the rock. My grandfather used a tree to mount a light in the late 60's.....it was 7-8' up when mounted. Now it's at least 18' up there and has since snapped the supply feed line. Lake County Bigfooot
All kidding aside, my guess is that it is of human origin, maybe to mark the area from the sky, or to prank someone else. If squatches did this we would see it all over the place, I guess it might be Squatchhenge, or preloaded squatch treestands Edited November 20, 2013 by Lake County Bigfooot
