Need Help In Central Texas.........

Here are some better pictures of the excavated underground hornets nest on the last page. Most of the Juniper root was under ground, with nice careful excavation & limestone rocks dug up. The red arrows show one small piece of nest left inside what was once the under ground structure. I've seen where other animals have gone after nests before, but they leave pieces of chewed nest in the immediate area, plus their excavations appear hap-hazard, and don't use the cold weather & nighttime to their advantage. Last nest pic titled 'East Side' shows another nest I found several miles away, with similar careful excavation, and a little piece of the nest left behind.......the alleged work of BF's on the nests that I find are always the same, year after year.

Also, here's a picture of a Ribbon snake I took the other day......the night before had dipped to 32 degrees, this was taken at 3:00 and 52 degrees in a nice sunny spot, which just shows me I always have to be looking for the darn things year-round in Central Texas.

Wow......it's been great hiking down in Central Texas with the rain & weather, and hasn't been this wet in 9 to 10 years in the Fall Season.

Here are some very nice & fresh impressions on a mossy type plant, probably hours old since the living plant had not rebounded from the track.

There just hasn't been any mossy plant life in these parts in so long, glad to have them back, and really like the way they will hold an impression.......these were really clear 'live'.

Hiked over to what I call Hog Valley, and yup.....'cause there be piggies down there. Don't really like being near them, they are dangerous, but more worried about the pups, they're dumb about Hogs, and can't climb trees. You can see in the pictures how bad they are tearing the creek areas up........if the BF's like bacon, this is the place to come.

It's also near a really nice BF shack that I found many years ago, and mentioned way back in this thread.......still holding its form.

That is cool, apples and not bullets. Glad to hear this. Imagine raising a family in the woods and being shot at on occasion.

So much for politics.  Do you still need help in Texas? I want to get out of the rain along the south coast of Oregon.................... it's coming down in buckets, and the most I've seen in years and years ................ maybe 30 years.

Eastern Oregon has snow, so Santa's Slay moves well.   Merry Christmas

Hey georgerm........good to hear from you, and Happy New Year to all! Come on down, always looking for like minded souls to wonder the woods with:)

We've had a lot of rain too, but very welcomed down here, as it ended our 7 year drought.

Here's a muddy print from the other day, the toe detail was better 'live', and some evidence of poaching.

Here's an interesting find, looks more impressive 'live', and what appears to be a screw embedded in Limestone.

Looks like this critter.      They or their ancestors are common in fossil shops.         https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turritella_communis

The screw looking part has a certain metallic look to it, and the spirals are the same diameter going into the rock.

Here's a good Wolf print from yesterday, and only seconds old.......my Wolf LULU:) I never trim her nails, as they wear down naturally with all the hiking, so a good natural print.

Wierd coincidence, a couple weeks ago, my wife and I were leaving the house for somewhere, and I happened to look down.

Laying in a corner of our deck, was a sea shell that matches exactly the one pictured in the link in post 1438. About 4.5 to 5 inches long, in perfect shape. I asked her where she found it, and she said she had never seen it before.

We don't live by an ocean, and nobody had been by that could have left it. The wife said maybe it was gifted. We do have 2 dogs, and some barn cats, but none of them have ever gifted us with anything. Plus I don't have any idea where any of those could have found it either. When the snow melts, if it is still there, I'll try to get a pic.
